Domestic Assault

At approx. 10:30 AM Tuesday, police were called to an address in the 700 block of Braecrest Drive for an assault.  A male and female had an argument during which the male pushed the female to the ground and kicked her in the side.  Both parties were located by police upon their arrival.  The 28-year-old male was arrested for domestic assault, and removed from the scene.  He was released a couple hours later on an Undertaking, which requires him to live at an address out of Brandon.  He will appear in court on February 1.  The female victim did not require medical attention.

Possession of a Weapon

At 12:45 AM today, police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 500 block of 34th St.  The officer observed the stock of a rifle sticking out from under the passenger side seat.  The occupants, a 34-year-old female from Douglas MB and a 22-year-old Brandon male were both arrested.  The vehicle was searched incident to arrest and a rifle was recovered as well as several articles of mail, some of which had been reported stolen in July of 2019.

The female was released for court on March 29.  She is charged with Possession of Prohibited Firearm, Possession of Firearm Knowing its Prohibited, Possession of a Firearm in a Vehicle, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and Possession of a Weapon.

The male was currently bound by court ordered release conditions which is was not following therefore he was held for court today.  He is charged with Possession of Prohibited Firearm, Possession of Firearm Knowing its Prohibited, Possession of a Firearm in a Vehicle,               Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Possession off a Weapon, Possession of Weapon Contrary to Prohibition Order and Breach of Release Order.

Break Enter and Theft  

At 6:15 AM today, officers responded to an alarm at a construction site on Sycamore Drive.  As officers arrived on scene, they observed a male leaving the area.  The male was apprehended and found to be in possession of several items that had been stolen from the site.  The 35-year-old male, currently of Winnipeg, however well known to Brandon Police, was held until sober and released for court February 25.

  

Possession of a Weapon / Fail to comply with Release Order

At 5:45 AM today, officers observed a male in the 1000 block of Brandon Ave carrying what appeared to be a weapon. The officers observed him to throw items away as they approached. The items were located and were both knives.  The 18-year-old Brandon male was checked and found to be on a curfew, which he was not complying with.  He is charged for failing to comply with his release order and possession of a weapon.  He was held in custody for court later today.
