Brandon Police Service Media Release for the Past 24 Hours.


Utter Threats

A 37 year old Brandon man was arrested on Thursday afternoon and is charged with Uttering Threats. A complaint was received from a woman that she had received several threats from the man including that he had a pistol and was going to shoot her. A search warrant was obtained for the man’s residence and he was arrested leaving the residence around 1:00 pm. After a search, no firearm was located. The man will appear in court today.

Possession of A Weapon

At 1:00 am on Friday, officers responded to a fight outside a residence on 20th St North. A male at the scene had been sprayed with bear spray. He did not cooperate with police and did make an assault complaint. Two males were observed nearby and fled on foot. One of the male was caught after a brief foot pursuit. He was in possession of a can of bear spray and was intoxicated. The male, a 15 year old youth, is charged with Possession of a Weapon and Consuming Alcohol under 18 Years. He was lodged until sober and released to appear in court in March.


Resist Arrest/Possession of a Weapon

A 36 year old Brandon man was arrested on an arrest warrant for Mischief Under $5000 on Thursday afternoon. An officer located the man walking into traffic in the 1000 block of Victoria Ave. He was stopped and resisted arrest. After he was arrested, a pipe was found hidden in his jacket. He is also charged with Possession of a Weapon and Resisting Arrest. He was released to appear in court in February.

Impaired Driving

Shortly after 1:00 am on Friday morning, staff at a convenience store in the 1600 block of Princess Ave reported a vehicle struck the store and drove away. Officers responded and found the vehicle had lost control on Rosser Ave, struck a building and then spun around into the convenience store. The front license plate of the truck was left at the scene and officer located the vehicle at a residence on Brandon’s north hill. A man admitted to being the driver and was arrested for impaired driving. He provide breath samples over twice the legal limit. The accused, a 38 year old Brandon resident, will appear in court in January on charges of Impaired Driving, Drive over 80 mg% and Fail to Remain at the scene of an Accident.

Assault Cause Bodily Harm, Mischief to Property

A 20 year old Brandon woman was charged with Assault Cause Bodily Harm and Mischief to Property following an incident at a residence in the 700 block of 10th St. The woman was asked to leave the residence by the home owner and refused. She then punched the homeowner several times in the head, resulting in an injury to her face.   The accused was located nearby and arrested. She was released to appear in court in February.

Other Arrests

A 28 year old man was charged with breaching a Release Order on Friday morning. Members located the male at a residence on 10th St with a woman he was bound by the order to not communicate with. He was released for court in February.

A 22 year old Brandon woman was arrested for breaching an undertaking on Friday morning. She caused a disturbance at a residence and was intoxicated. She was lodged until sober and released for court in February.

One person was lodged for Breach of Peace.
