Impaired Driver

At approximately 4:30 am, Thursday morning, police observed a vehicle swerving on the road in the 2600 block of Victoria Avenue and conducted a traffic stop.  The 29-year-old male driver from Brandon exhibited signs of impairment and was arrested for impaired driving.  The driver provided samples of his breath at over twice the legal limit.  He was charged with impaired driving and drive over .08.  He was released from custody and will appear in court later in November.

 

Weapons Possession

At approximately 11:15, Wednesday evening, police conducted a traffic stop in the 1300 block of 26 Street.  A 40-year-old female occupant of the vehicle was found in possession of a machete and a butterfly knife.  She was charged with possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and possession of a weapon contrary to a prohibition order.  She was released and will appear in court in December.  The 34-year-old male occupant from Brandon was found in possession of a collapsible baton.  He was arrested and charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and fail to comply with a release order.  He was also released and will appear in court in December.

 

Warrants Executed

At approximately 7:30 am, Wednesday morning, police attended a residence in the 600 block of 9 Street to remove several unwanted people.  An 18-year-old female from Brandon was present and checked.  She was found to be wanted on an unendorsed warrant for break and enter and failing to appear in court.  She was arrested and held in custody for court.

At 11:20 am, Wednesday morning, police attended a disturbance on Westaway Bay.  One female present, a 33-year-old from Brandon, was found to be wanted by Portage la Prairie RCMP on an endorsed warrant for theft under.  She was arrested and released for court in Portage later in November.

At 12:30 Wednesday afternoon, police observed a male, known to be wanted on several unendorsed warrants.  When confronted by police the male armed himself with a hammer and fled on foot.  He was apprehended a short distance away.  The 43-year-old male was arrested and charged with possess property obtained by crime and resist arrest.  He also had warrants for break and enter along with numerous other property crimes and failing to appear in court.  The male was held in custody for court.

At approximately 3 pm, Wednesday afternoon, police attended a disturbance on Garwood Drive, between a male, a female and a cab driver.  The female, a 21-year-old from Brandon was found to be wanted on an endorsed warrant for break and enter.  She was arrested at the scene and released for court in January.  The male, a 27-year-old also from Brandon, was arrested for assault, mischief and obtain transportation by fraud.  He was released for court in December.

At 3:30, Wednesday afternoon, an employee of Manitoba Housing reported an intoxicated male sleeping on a bench in Princess Park.  The male was located, checked and found to be wanted on an endorsed warrant for breach of probation.  The 60-year-old of no fixed address was held at Brandon Police Service for release when sober.  He will appear in court in December.

 

Court Order Violations

At approximately 9 am, Wednesday morning, a male reported that a female, who is on a court order to have no contact with him, was at his residence refusing to leave.  The 39-year-old female from Brandon was found at the residence and arrested.  She is bound by the conditions of a Recognizance to have no contact or communication with the complainant and is not to attend his residence.  She was arrested and held in custody to appear in court.

 

Aggravated Assault

At approximately 8 am, Wednesday morning, police attended a residence on Woodhaven Drive after a 911 call reporting a fight between two males.  Police located the victim who had suffered a slash wound to his neck area.  He was transported by ambulance to BRHC where he was treated and is in stable condition.  The suspect, a 47-year-old Brandon male was also located at the scene and arrested without incident.  The police investigation revealed that the two males had argued and the suspect had struck the victim with a pipe-like object and cut him with an exacto-knife.  The suspect was held in custody for court.

 

Search Warrant Executed

At approximately noon on Wednesday, members of the Major Crime Unit executed a search warrant at a residence in the 600 block of 15 Street.  A large quantity of tools were seized that are believed to be stolen.  A 44-year-old Brandon male and a 42-year-old Brandon female were both arrested at the scene.  The female was charged with possession of stolen property and was released from custody.  She will appear in court in December.  The male was released without charges, pending further investigation into the origin and ownership of the items located in the residence.
