Brandon Police Service Media Release for the Past 24 Hours.

 

 Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Methamphetamine:

At approximately 7:30 P.M., members of the Organized Crime Unit while engaged in an investigation of drug trafficking arrested a 27-year-old man from Winnipeg during a traffic stop in the north end of the city. A search of the suspect recovered approximately 4 ounces of Methamphetamine and $4100 cash. The estimated street value of seized drugs is $11,000. The man is scheduled to appear in court this morning charged with Possession for the Purpose of trafficking Methamphetamine and Possession of Proceeds of Crime.

 

Trespassing at Night:

At approximately 10:30 P.M., Police observed two male subjects dressed in dark clothing running through residential yards in the 500 Block of 13th Street and dropping items as they attempted to evade officers. One of the subjects was located in the area and arrested for Trespassing at Night. The 38-year-old man from Brandon was later released and is scheduled to appear in Court in November.

 

Assaults:

  • A 40-year-old female from Brandon was arrested for assaulting two youth inside an east end residence just after 3:00 A.M. this morning. The highly intoxicated suspect was lodged at the Police Service to be released once sober with a Court date in November.  The victims did not sustain physical injuries from the assault.
  • At approximately 1:35 A.M., Police responded to a residence in the downtown area after receiving a report of a disturbance. Investigation determined that a male located within the residence assaulted his girlfriend by hitting her in the face. The intoxicated 22-year-old man from Brandon was arrested for assault and lodged at the Police Service. He will be released once sober with a Court date in October. The victim sustained swelling to her face from the assault but did not require medical attention.
  • At approximately 4:50 A.M., Police responded to a disturbance call at a residence on Cornell Bay. Investigation determined that an intoxicated male suspect assaulted his ex-girlfriend by hitting her in the face. A 41-year-old man from Brandon was arrested for Assault. He was lodged at the Police Service and is scheduled to appear in Court later today. The female victim did not sustain physical injuries from the assault.

 

Break and Enters:

 

  • On Wednesday morning, an employee of a business in the 100 Block 10th Street reported a break and enter that occurred to a storage area within the building at approximately 6:30 A.M. Some computer equipment and a surveillance camera were stolen. The Police investigation continues.
  • At approximately 7:20 A.M., a resident in the 700 Block 6th Street reported that two sheds and a garage on the property were entered sometime overnight. Two bicycles, an ice auger and miscellaneous tools were stolen. Police continue to investigate.

 

Possession of Prohibited Weapon:

At approximately 3:35 A.M., Police arrested a 23-year-old man from Brandon for possession of a prohibited weapon. The man was an occupant of a vehicle during a traffic stop and was observed to be in possession of a can a bear spray.  He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Court in November.

 

Other Arrests: 

  • Three individuals were detained at the Police Service under the Intoxicated Person Detention Act.
  • One individual was arrested for Breach of the Peace and held at the Police Service to be released once sober.
