Break Enter and Theft

At 7:00 AM Friday morning Police received a report of a break and enter to a work site on Willowcrest Ave.  Between 9 PM Thursday and 6 AM Friday the building was entered and several units under construction were forcibly entered.  The suspect(s) then stole an assortment of tools, valued at approx. $3000.  The incident is still under investigation.


Possession of a Prohibited Weapon

At approx. 4:30 Friday afternoon, members were called to the area of Willowdale Cres for a male knocking on windows and checking doors.  The caller believed the male was holding something in his hand that appeared to be a bike lock.  The caller was concerned he may use the item to gain entry through a window.  Members attended to the area and located the male in the bushes to the north side of Willowdale Cres.  The 16-year-old Brandon male was found to be the subject of an outstanding warrant for assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon, and carrying a concealed weapon.  At the time he was arrested he was holding a set of brass knuckles, which are prohibited. He was therefore also arrested for possession of a prohibited weapon.  The male was held at BPS overnight and will appear in court this morning.


Impaired Driving

At 3:00 AM this morning officers observed a vehicle in a parking lot of Braecrest Drive that appeared to be stuck.  Members stopped to check and found the vehicle had driven off the edge of the parking lot, which is on a steep hill, causing the car to become stuck over the edge.  The 18 year old male in control of the vehicle attempting to drive it back onto the parking lot was observed to be displaying signs of impairment and was arrested for being in care and control of a vehicle while impaired. He provided two samples of his breath resulting in readings in excess of one and a half times the legal limit.  He has been released from custody and will appear in court on June 25th.


Domestic Assault

At 10; PM Friday evening police received a report of a domestic assault at a residence in the 300 block of 25th St.  The investigation revealed that a 22-year-old female had assaulted her boyfriend by throwing a small statue at him and then punching him.  She was arrested and held until sober at which time she was released from custody and will appear in court on September 10th.


Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking

At 10:30 PM Friday evening police conducted a traffic stop in the 1200 block of 10th St.  During the stop the 26-year-old female of Russell MB, was found to be in possession of approx. 30 individually packaged Tylenol 3’s, scales, and packaging materials indicative of drug trafficking.  She was also in possession a quantity of cash supportive of drug sales.  The suspect was released from custody charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of the proceeds of crime. She will appear in court on Sept 10th.


Other Arrests:

  • 2 males were arrested from separate incidents for breach of the peace. Both were held at the Brandon Police Service overnight, and were released when sober.
