Brandon Police Service Media Release for the Past 24 Hours.


Possession of Prohibited Weapon:

On Wednesday evening, Police responded to a multi-unit residence in the 300 Block of 6th Street for a male passed out in the laundry room. The male was taken into custody and a search of his person recovered a set of brass knuckles. A police record check discovered that the man is bound by a Release Order to not possess any weapons and is also prohibited from possessing weapons. The 26-year-old man from Brandon was arrested for Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, Breach of Release Order and Possession of Weapon contrary to a Prohibition Order. He was lodged at the Police Service and released from custody once sober to attend court in July.


Fail to Comply with Release Order:

On Wednesday morning, Police were called to a residence in the 400 Block of Park Street to assist in removing a male. A Police record check revealed that the male is bound by a Release Order with a 24-hour curfew clause to reside at a different address. The 47-year-old man from Brandon was arrested for Fail to Comply with a Release Order. The male had a Court hearing and has been remanded in custody.

A 53-year-old male currently incarcerated at the Brandon Correctional Center was arrested on Wednesday for Fail to comply with a Court Order. Police investigation determined that while incarcerated the man contacted a female on several occasions while bound by the Court Order not to do so. The man is scheduled to appear in Court on Thursday.


Arrest Warrant Executed:

On Wednesday afternoon, Police responded to a disturbance inside a residence in the 500 Block of Louise Avenue. A male located within the residence was found to have three outstanding Warrants of Arrest for charges that include Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Breach of Probation, Possession of a Controlled Substance and Fail to Attend Court. The 30-year-old intoxicated man from Brandon was arrested and lodged at the Brandon Police Service. Once sober, he was released and is scheduled to appear in Court in June.


Fraud Under $5000:

An 18-year-old man from Brandon was arrested on Wednesday for Fraud Under $5000. Police investigation revealed that between January 23rd and January 28th 2020, the accused attended a business on 18th Street North where he removed the price tags from various items and then replaced them with cheaper prices and purchased the goods. The suspect was captured on the store video surveillance. The male was released from Police custody and is scheduled to appear in Court in October.


Possession of Stolen Cell Phone:

On Wednesday afternoon, a 48-year-old male was arrested for Possession of Property Obtained by Crime after police located him in possession of a cell phone that was reported stolen on May 26th. The man was released and is scheduled to appear in Court in September.


Other Arrests: 

  • Three individuals were arrested for Breach of the Peace and held at the Brandon Police Service for release when sober.
