May 19th Media Release

For the last 24 hours:

Breach of Release Order:

Just before 7:00 AM Monday morning a complaint was received from a resident in the 1500 block 3rd Street reporting an intoxicated friend in her residence.  The friend, a 27 year-old male, was acting strangely.  Members attended and determined that the male was bound by two separate court orders, both of which contained an abstain from alcohol clause. The accused was arrested and held until he sobered up, at which time he was released to appear in court on August 13th to answer to two counts of failing to comply with a release order.

Mischief Charges:
A 40 year-old male, who was being sought or mischief charges, was located Monday morning after being reported in the 500 block 5th Street area checking out vehicles.  He attempted to elude members but was apprehended in the 300 block 2nd Street, and arrested.  He was found to be intoxicated by meth and was held in custody until sober.  He was released on police imposed conditions to appear in court on October 13th.

A 16 year-old female was arrested and released Monday evening after a witness reported seeing her push over a motorcycle parked in the 200 block 6th Street.  She is scheduled to appear in court on August 18th facing one count of mischief to property under $5000.

Arrest Warrant Executed:

At around 4:30 PM Monday afternoon, members were dealing with another matter in the area of the 700 block 10th Street when they developed information that a 40 year-old male suspect who was wanted on an unendorsed warrant for arrest for serious domestic-related charges was in a nearby residence.  Members established a containment perimeter and a judicial authorization to enter the dwelling was applied for.  The accused, upon seeing the police presence, contacted legal counsel and arranged to surrender.  He was taken into custody without incident and will appear in court today facing charges including: Break, Enter & Commit (x2); Assault Causing Bodily Harm (domestic); Assault (domestic); Assault with a weapon (domestic); Uttering threats (domestic); Use of firearm in commission of an offence; Unauthorized possession of prohibited weapon; Possess firearm contrary to order; Fail to comply with probation order (x2).

A 16 year-old male, from Saskatoon, was located along Middleton Avenue just before 3:00 AM this morning, who was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for his arrest for breach of conditional sentence order.  He was also listed as missing from Saskatoon.  He was brought into custody and will appear in court today.

Possession of a Weapon:

At 2050 hrs, a resident from Regent Crescent reported a male in the front yard, and he appeared to have a weapon.  Members attended and located a 35 year-old male from Dauphin matching the description, and he provided a story that was not credible.  He was found to have a can of bear spray in his pocket.  The accused was released on police imposed conditions to appear in court on August 17th in Brandon.

Stolen Vehicle Recovered:

A 1991 Honda Civic that was reported stolen from Brandon on May 8th was recovered in Vancouver by their police service on Monday.  They had no one in custody at the time of their report.

Others:

Over the previous 24 hours, 5 individuals were held in custody to sober up from drug and or alcohol intoxication.  All have been, or will be released, when they are in a condition to care for themselves.
