May 18th Media Release

For the last 24 hours:

Arrest Warrant Executed:

Early Saturday afternoon, a 26 year old male was arrested on the strength of an arrest warrant held by us, for break and enter with intent, after he attended to a health facility and was acting in a bizarre manner.  It was determined that he was under the influence of meth.  He was held in custody and will have a court hearing this morning.

A 22 year old male was arrested by Russell RCMP on the strength of two warrants for arrest held by us for theft under $5000 and fail to attend for identification.  The accused was also facing new charges from their point.  He was subsequently released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court in Brandon on our charges on August 10th.

Resisted Arrest:

At about 12:45 AM this morning, members were called to a residence on Westaway Bay for a family dispute; alcohol was involved.  A 28 year-old male, a brother to the complainant, was directed to leave the premise several times but chose to remain and continued to cause problems. The members proceeded to arrest him to prevent a continued breach of the peace, and he resisted those attempts.  He was subsequently brought into custody and will be released, once sober, to appear in court on August 20th facing one count of resisting arrest.

House Fire:

At 3:11 AM this morning, a neighbor reported a fire at 317 Cornwallis Crescent. Members attended along with BFES personnel to find the home fully engulfed.  The homeowners had safely exited the home, and several nearby homes were also evacuated.  The cause has not been determined and remains under investigation.

Four individuals were held in custody to sober up from drug and or alcohol intoxication after being involved in separate incidents to which our members responded.
