Impaired Driver

On Tuesday afternoon, police attended an accident in the 700 block of 13th Street. The investigation revealed that a male driver that was southbound on 13th Street crossed into northbound traffic and struck a parked car that was parked facing north. The driver showed signs of impairment and was arrested at the scene. The 39-year-old male driver from Brandon failed the drug evaluation and was charged with impaired driving. He was held in custody for release when sober.

 

Break and Enters

On Tuesday, a property manager in the 1200 block of 20th street reported that two suspects entered their four buildings sometime over the weekend. Surveillance video of the suspects was obtained and the police are continuing to investigate.

On Tuesday evening, the homeowner on Christie Bay reported that her shed had been broken into previously. The lock was cut but nothing appears to have been taken. Police are continuing to investigate.

 

Mischief

On Tuesday evening, police arrested a 21-year-old Brandon female for mischief that occurred on April 29 when she caused damage to a hot tub cover in the 000 block of 21st Street North. The incident was recorded on video, which led to identifying the accused. She was released from police custody and will appear in court in July.

 

Possess Property Obtained by Crime

On Tuesday evening, while investigating a possible impaired driver police located a 26-year-old female, matching the description provided. The vehicle that she was in was unregistered and the license plates on the vehicle were reported stolen. The Brandon woman was arrested for possess property obtained by crime. She was released for court in July.

 

Aggravated Assault

On Monday evening, police attended an assault at a residence in the east end of Brandon that was discovered to be a stabbing. The victim, a male youth, was treated for several non-life threatening wounds. The suspect had fled the scene prior to the arrival of the police and was not located at the time. On Tuesday evening, the 19-year-old suspect, a Brandon male, was located in the downtown area and arrested without incident. He was charged with aggravated assault and mischief to property and was held in custody for court in the morning.

 

Assault

Early Wednesday morning, police attended a disturbance at a local motel. Once there, an employee reported being assaulted by a male who first punched the employee and then further assaulted him by throwing a shopping cart at him. The 31-year-old male of no fixed address was arrested at the scene. The male, intoxicated by a drug, was held in custody for release when sober, and will appear in court in August. The suspect is charged with assault and assault with a weapon.

 

Robbery

At 3:30 am Wednesday morning, a convenience store in the west end reported being robbed by a male armed with a handgun. A police canine track led to a residence a few blocks away where the suspect was located, in possession of the items taken from the store. Also located was a replica handgun. The 16-year-old Brandon male was arrested without further incident. He is charged with robbery with violence, possession of a weapon or imitation, use of a firearm during an indictable offence and failing to comply with the conditions of his undertaking. The male was held in custody for court in the morning.
