Domestic Assault

On Saturday morning officers attended to a residence in the 800 block of 8th St. for a domestic related complaint.  Upon arrival, it was learnt that a 29-year-old male had assaulted his ex-girlfriend during the night prior.  The female had sustained non-life threatening injuries after the accused male struck her with a hammer.  Officers also discovered that he was the subject of arrest warrants held by the RCMP as well as the Winnipeg Police Service for domestic assault related offences.  The male was arrested and held for court this morning on the strength of the warrants.  He is also facing new charges of assault with a weapon, aggravated assault and choking to overcome resistance.


Break and Enter

On Saturday afternoon, police received a call of a break and enter to an apartment complex in the1400 block of 22nd St.  The incident occurred at approx. 1:00 AM Saturday morning, where two individuals pried a door to gain entry to the common areas of the building.  The matter is still under investigation.


Other Arrests:     

  • 3 people were arrested and held for breach of the peace.
  • 1 person was arrested and held under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act.
