Toy Gun 

On March 24, 2020, at approximately 9:40 am, police responded to a report of an individual in the 800 block of Pacific Ave holding what appeared to be a handgun. The individual was part of a group of four people.

Further investigation revealed that the individual had found a toy gun in the mud. The individual’s intent with the toy gun was to clean it and give it away. The toy gun in question was in fact quite muddy, and their explanation was credible.

The individuals were reminded about the appearance of playing with toy guns in public, as at a distance, others might have reason to believe the gun is real.

No individuals received any charges in this matter.

 

Breach of Peace

On March 24, 2020, at approximately 3:30 pm, police responded to a report of a disturbance in a residence. A 30-year-old female damaged property inside the home while she was under the influence of illicit drugs. To prevent her from escalating further, she was arrested and lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre.

On March 24, 2020, police received a report of an intoxicated male at a business in the 1500 block of 18th street. Employees prevented the 37-year-old male from stealing merchandise, and detained him. To prevent the male from causing further issues, he was arrested and lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre.

 

Fail to Comply with Release Order

On March 24, 2020, shortly after 10:00 pm, police observed a male and female in the 700 block of Princess Ave. The 28-year-old male was to have no contact with the female. He was arrested and will appear in court at a later date on a charge of Fail to Comply with Release Order.

On March 25, 2020, shortly before 2:00 am, police conducted a traffic stop in the 900 block of Lorne Ave, after the driver ran a stop sign and nearly collided with the police cruiser. A passenger in the vehicle was to abide by a curfew of 11:00 pm. The 17-year-old female was arrested and lodged at Brandon correctional Centre and will appear in court today on a charge of Fail to Comply with Release Order.

 

IPDA

On March 25, 2020, shortly before 4:00 am, police received a report of several intoxicated individuals at a business in the 700 block of 10th street. The suspects were acting out in the business before they left. One of them was located a short distance away. Due to the intoxication level of a 39-year-old male, he was arrested and lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre, as there was no one sober to look after him.

 

Possession of a Weapon

On March 24, 2020, police responded to a report of two females who were stealing merchandise from a business in the 900 block of 18th street N. The females were located a short distance away from the business.

A 32-year-old female was arrested and lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre. She was under the influence of an illicit drug, and still in possession of the stolen merchandise. She will be released to appear in court for Theft Under $5000 on a later date.

A 39-year-old female was arrested and found to be in possession of two utility knives. She was released to appear in court at a later date on a charge of Possession of a Weapon.
