Breach of Peace

On March 19, 2020, shortly before 5:00 pm, police received a report of an intoxicated male at a business in the 900 block of Middleton Ave. The male was naked in the laundry room of the business, while washing his clothes.

The 54-year-old male had nowhere to go, and no one to care for him while intoxicated, so he was arrested and lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre until sober.

Once his laundry cycle was complete, employees from the business turned his clothes over to police, so that they could be reunited with the owner.

 

City of Brandon Knife By-law

On March 19, 2020, police received several reports from concerned citizens of a male who was openly carrying very large knives, and swords. The suspect was in the area of the 1600 block of 18th street.

Police located the 24-year-old male suspect, who had been the subject of a similar complaint on March 11, 2020. Police had already explained to him on that date that the knives were illegal to carry in public, and that they were making others uneasy.

The suspect agreed not to continue his behavior at the time; however, as he had completely disregarded the original warnings of police, the knives were seized, and the 24-year-old male was issued a fine under the City Of Brandon Knife By-law for Carry Unconcealed Knife.

Arrest Warrant

On March 19, 2020, at approximately 12:30 pm, police received a report from a homeowner that several individuals in the area of the 600 block of 12th street who were acting suspiciously. Police located a 21-year-old male who was wanted on outstanding charges of Fail to Attend Court, Fail to Comply with Release order, and Theft Under $5000. He was arrested and lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre to appear in court today.

On March 19, 2020, police responded to a report of a highly intoxicated female in the 600 block of Percy St at approximately 7:30 pm. The female was falling down in the street. Police located and arrested the 41-year-old female. She was lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre, as there was nobody to care for her.

 

Fail to Comply with Undertaking

On March 19, 2020, police received a report of a fight between several individuals in the 900 block of Rosser Ave at approximately 7:40 pm. The fight had dispersed prior to police arrival, but one of the involved individuals was located nearby. The 43-year-old male was intoxicated, and to abide by conditions not to consume alcohol. The male was arrested and lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre and will appear in court today.

 

Theft Under $5000

On August 31, 2019, police received a report of a male who stole from a kiosk style business in the 1500 block of 18th street after business hours. The male was observed on security footage going under the tarp covering the business and taking merchandise.

The images assisted police in learning the identity of the suspect, who was arrested on March 19, 2020. He is currently lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre on other charges and will appear in court today on a charge of Theft Under $5000.

 

Fraud Under $5000

Between October 20, 2019, and December 16, 2019, a suspect purchased items from a business in the 800 block of 18 street N. During that time, he returned to the business with his receipt, selected the same items from the store. He then used his receipt to obtain a refund from the store, all the while keeping the items that he had originally purchased.

The same suspect also stole items from the store in separate incidents. The total value of the items is believed to exceed $2000.

A 29-year-old male suspect was identified through security footage. He was arrested on March 19, and will appear in court on a later date on charges of Fraud Under $5000 and Theft Under $5000.

 

Breach of Peace

On March 19, 2020 at approximately 9:30 pm, police responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence in the 200 block of 9th street. Due to the intoxication level of the individuals present, police had a difficult time understanding what exactly transpired, as individual statements varied.

An 18-year-old female was arrested and lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre to prevent her behavior from escalating, as she was under the influence of illicit drugs and alcohol.

A 45-year-old male located nearby was to abide by conditions not to consume alcohol, and not to possess knives. As he was failing to comply with both conditions, he too was arrested and lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre and will appear in court at a later date on charges of Fail to Comply with Probation.

 

Breach of Peace

On March 19, 2020 at approximately 11:30 pm, police responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence on Garwood Drive. Police found several intoxicated individuals in the home who were uncooperative with police about the situation.

One of the individuals was both intoxicated and injured. He required medical attention, but would not disclose what lead to his injuries even while at BRHC. To prevent the situation from escalating, the 38-year-old male was lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre once treated for his injuries.

A 41-year-old intoxicated female was also arrested at the residence to prevent the continuation and escalation of her behavior. She too was lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre.

 

Arrest Warrant

On March 20, 2020, police conducted a traffic stop in the 1000 block of Van Horne Ave. The driver was found to be the subject of an outstanding arrest Warrant for Fail to Comply with Probation. The 40-year-old male was arrested and will appear in court at a later date.

 

Breach of Peace

On March 19, 2020, police responded to a report of a disturbance in the 200 block of 6th street N. A 43-year-old intoxicated male was arrested and lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre over concerns for his escalating behavior and safety.

 

Breach of Peace

On March 19, 2020 at approximately 8:00 pm, police responded to a report of a female youth who was acting out at a group home. The adults caring for her were unable to keep her or those around her safe. The female had been violent and destructive within the home. Once arrested, she continued her combative behavior at Brandon Correctional Centre where she was lodged.
