Refuse Roadside Screening Device

At 1:45 a.m. today, police conducted a vehicle stop in the 400 block of Park Avenue. The driver, a 30-year-old male from Brandon, refused to provide samples of breath at the roadside into a screening device on demand from the officer. The male will appear in court in February, charged with refusing to provide a breath sample into an approved screening device.

Impaired Driver

At 2:20 a.m. today staff of a licensed premise reported that a male ejected from their business in the 1100 block of 18th Street, was now operating a motor vehicle in an erratic manner in the parking lot of the business. Police arrested the accused after stopping him in the parking lot as he showed obvious signs of impairment. The accused, a 30-year-old male from Saskatchewan, provided samples of his breath over the legal limit. He will appear in court next week, charged with driving while impaired and driving while over the legal limit of 80 mgs of alcohol.

Other Arrests

Three people were detained for being intoxicated in public and unable to care for themselves, and three people were detained for being intoxicated in public and causing disturbances. All have been held overnight at the Brandon Correctional Centre and will be released later today once sober.

A female youth was detained overnight for being intoxicated and causing a public disturbance in the 1100 block of 18th Street at around 8 p.m. last night, as well as a male youth for being intoxicated and causing a disturbance in the area of Elviss Crescent just before midnight. Both youths will be issued offence notices for being intoxicated while under the age of 18 years.

At 7:40 a.m. Saturday, police attended a disturbance the 2200 block of Brandon Avenue in response to a report of several fights occurring within a residence there. An 18-year-old male and 21 year old male, both from Brandon, were arrested for being in breach of court orders prohibiting the consumption of alcohol. They were released later in the day and will appear in court in March.
