Motor Vehicle Collision Involving two Pedestrians

On November 19, 2019 at approximately 5:30 pm, police responded to a motor vehicle collision involving two pedestrians at the intersection of 10th street and Van Horne Ave.

A 5-year-old-female and a 32-year-old female were treated for minor injuries.

A 36-year-old female driver has received a fine under the Highway Traffic Act for Fail to Yield Right of Way in a Pedestrian Corridor. Speed and intoxication were not factors in this accident.

We would like to remind pedestrians and motorists alike, that even if you have the right of way, you still need to be mindful of what is happening around you. The fresh snow today has caused very icy roadways, and motorists may not be able to stop even if they are driving cautiously.


Theft of Vehicle

On November 20, 2019, police observed a vehicle being driven in the area of the 600 block of 14th street without its headlights on. Office queried the license plates and learned the vehicle was reported as stolen from Winnipeg on November 18, 2019.

The 25-year-old male driver and 22-year-old female passenger were arrested for Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.

The vehicle was searched by investigators who located another license plate inside which belonged to a vehicle registered to someone residing in the Kemnay area. Police were then able to confirm with that owner that the license plate went missing on November 19, 2019.

Police also confirmed that the driver was prohibited. He was lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre and will appear in court today on charges of Possess Property Obtained by Crime X 2, and Prohibited Driving.

The passenger will appear in court on January 20, 2020 on a charge of Possess Property Obtained by Crime.


Personating a Peace Officer

On November 19, 2019, police received a report shortly before 8:00 pm, of an individual who approached employees at a facility in the 500 block of Frederick Street that he was an undercover cop.

He went on to advise the employees that he was there to pick up two other individuals. The employees did not believe the male, but he refused to leave and proceeded to attempt to wander the facility.

The 47-year-old male was believed to be under the influence of some type of intoxicant. He was arrested and lodged to be released when sober to appear in January 16, 2020 on a charge of Personating a Peace Officer.


Arrest Warrant

On November 19, 2019, two separate males attended Brandon Police Service, as they were both aware they were each wanted on outstanding charges.

A 45-year-old male will appear in court on December 23, 2019 for Fail to Appear.

A 35-year-old male will appear in court on January 13, 2020 for Prohibited Driving.
