Update: Motor Vehicle Collision Involving Pedestrian

 

On November 18, 2019 at approximately 9:18 am, members of Brandon Police Service Traffic Section and Patrol Division responded with members of Brandon Fire and Emergency Service to an accident at the intersection of 26th Street and Park Ave involving a pedestrian.

A motorist struck the pedestrian who was believed to be walking southbound on the east side of the intersection. The motorist was turning eastbound onto Park Ave after travelling southbound on 26th street. The motorist is fully cooperating with the investigation. Speed and intoxication are not factors in this accident. Police continue to investigate.

The pedestrian suffered a significant head injury and has since been transported via ambulance to Winnipeg Health Sciences Centre. We do not have an update on the medical status of the pedestrian this morning. No further personal information about the female will be released.

Thank you to all who responded yesterday to our request for assistance in identifying the female. With your help, we were able to identify the pedestrian and notify her family of her condition.

 

IPDA

 

On November 18, 2019, shortly before 9:00 pm, police responded to a report of a male who claimed he was being chased by someone. The male went to a business in the 000 block of Willowdale Cres to seek help. The male began acting strangely inside the business and started to throw items around. Police believe the male was under the influence of meth and alcohol, which was influencing his behavior. The 46-year-old male was arrested and lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre.

 

Breach of Undertaking

On November 18, 2019, police received a report of unauthorized people in the lobby of an apartment building in the 1300 block of Princess Ave, shortly before midnight. The four people had been drinking and making a lot of noise.

Two of the four people located there by police were able to leave on their own accord. A 19-year-old female who was there was too intoxicated for the others to care for, or to be left on her own. She was lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre until sober.

A 31-year-old male was to abide by conditions not to have communications with the female. He was too was arrested and lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre. He will appear in court on January 6, 2020 on a charge of Breach of Undertaking.

 

IPDA

On November 19, 2019 at approximately 1:30 am, police received a report of an intoxicated 50-year-old male in the 100 block of McTavish Ave. E. The male had no one to care for him so he was lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre until sober.
