Aggravated Assault

At approx. 4:00 AM this morning, Police were called to a business in the 1900 block of Richmond Ave for an assault.  At the time of the 911 call the information was that the lone victim had been jumped by two assailants in the parking lot.  The suspects reportedly beat the male victim to the ground where they continued to kick the victim in the head.  Officers flooded the area and located the two suspects a few blocks away.  Both suspects, a 19-year-old Brandon male and a 20-year-old male of no fixed address were arrested for Aggravated Assault.  They were lodged at the Brandon Correctional Centre and will appear before a Justice later today.  The victim sustained head injuries the severity of which is to be determined.  He taken to hospital for treatment. 

Break and Enter

At approx. 1:00 AM this morning officers attended to a residence in the 100 block of 18th St for a report of a break and enter.  The caller indicated that they had found the residence insure.  Officers entered to ensure no suspects were still on scene and found the residence to be empty.  Police did locate a pump action shotgun, ammunition and several knives left in plain view.  These items were seized and the matter remains under investigation.

Assault Peace Officer

At approx. 1:00 AM Police were called regarding an assault at the Brandon Correctional Centre where a female Correctional Officer was assaulted by a female in custody.  Brandon Police had lodged the 40-year-old Brandon female at the Correctional Centre earlier in the day as she was highly intoxicated and causing a disturbance in a downtown office.  Shortly before 1 AM, Correctional staff were checking on the wellbeing of the female in custody when she stood up and punched the Officer in the head.  The accused was arrested for assault and will be released later today with a court date of January 6th 2020.  The Officer was treated for what is believed to be minor injuries.

  

Arrest Warrant Executed

At approx. 11:50 PM Friday night an Officer observed a male riding a bicycle against traffic on Park Ave.  The male was identified, and found to be the subject of an outstanding warrant for his arrest for theft.  The 28-year-old Brandon man was arrested and later released on a Promise to Appear, with a court date of December 9th 2019.

Breach of Recognizance

At 4:15 PM Friday Police were called to a business in the 900 block of Victoria Ave for a female that that had been barred by a Recognizance order from attending the business, but was there at the time of the call.  Officers arrested the 23-year-old female who is the subject of 13 fraud use of credit card charges, 2 charges of possession of stolen property and 1 charge of shoplifting.  She was lodged at the Brandon Correctional Centre ad will appear before a Justice later today.

  • · 3 individuals were lodged at the Brandon Correctional Centre for Breach of the Peace
  • · 1 individual was lodged under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act
