Update:    Break and Enter and Assault / Aggravated Assault

Over the weekend, we reported on an incident, which occurred at a residence in the 800 block of 4th street on November 2, 2019 at approximately 5:30 am.

The investigation revealed that there was an altercation at a separate location earlier in the evening involving the same individuals.

Following the original altercation, four individuals then attended to the residence on 4th street and forced their way inside. Once inside they assaulted the individuals there using bear mace. One of the individuals who broke into the residence was confronted by one of the occupants of the residence and was stabbed. The 20-year-old male was taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries.

On November 2, 2019, police located the other individuals who committed the Break and Enter that morning. Three of them were charged with the Break and Enter. They include:

A 21-year-old male who was lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre and appeared in court on November 3, 2019 on charges of Breach of Undertaking, Break and Enter and Assault, and Possess Prohibited Weapon.

An 18-year-old female who will appear in court on December 30, 2019 on a charge of Break and Enter with Intent.

A 19-year-old male who will appear in court on December 30, 2019 on a charge of Break and Enter and commit assault.

The individual within the residence who committed the stabbing was also arrested on November 2, 2019, and lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre. The 19-year-old male appeared in court on November 2, 2019 on a charge of Aggravated Assault.

The 20-year-old male who was taken to the hospital with injuries is recovering. He was arrested on November 5, 2019, and will appear in court on December 19, 2019 on a charge of Break and Enter.

 

Arrest Warrants

On November 5, 2019 at approximately 3:45 pm, police attended to a residence in the 000 block of Willowdale Cres at the request of Manitoba Housing Authorities to assist in removing individuals who had entered the residence and were squatting there. The unit was not leased to anyone at the time. Two of the three individuals located there were found to be the subjects of outstanding arrest warrants.

A 25-year-old male was arrested and lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre to appear in court today on charges of Robbery with Violence, Breach of Probation X3, Theft under $5000 X3, and Fail to Attend.

A 25-year-old female was arrested and lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre to appear in court today on charges of Robbery with Violence, Possess Stolen Credit Card, and Fail to Attend Court.

The third individual inside, a 22-year-old female was arrested as she was under the influence of Meth. She was lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre until sober.

 

Theft Under $5000

On October 4, 2019, police received a report of a theft of merchandise from a business in the 900 block of Victoria Ave. The male suspect stole over $1400 in electronics, and houseware. Through video surveillance, the 37-year-old male was able to be identified. On November 5, 2019, he was arrested for the theft and is lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre where he will appear in court today on a charge of Theft Under $5000.

 

Assault

On November 5, 2019, at approximately 3:30 pm, police responded to a report of a 15-year-old youth who was being combative with the adults around her who were attempting to prevent them from escalating further. The youth was also found to be under the influence of Meth. During this intervention, the youth assaulted one of the adults. They were arrested and lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre. She will be released to appear in court on a later date on a charge of Assault.

 

Possession of Property Obtained by Crime

On November 5, 2019, police attended to a business in the 3500 block of Victoria Ave on a report of a female who was passed out due to alcohol intoxication while playing VLT’s. The 30-year-old female was found to be the subject of an outstanding arrest warrant on charges of Assault X2. Following her arrest, police located a stolen wallet with contents of credit cards in her possession. She was lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre and will appear in court today on both the warrant charges, plus an additional charge of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.

 

Arrest Warrant

On November 5, 2019, shortly before 8:00 pm, police responded to a report of an intoxicated male attempting to fight strangers as they were exiting a business in the 800 block of 18th street. The 37-year-old male was found to be the subject of an outstanding arrest warrant. He was arrested and will appear in court on December 30, 2019 on a charge of Breach of Probation.

 

Impaired Driving

On November 5, 2019, shortly before 11:00 pm, police conducted a traffic stop in the 1300 block of 18th street. The driver, a 22-year-old male, showed signs of impairment and was arrested. He provided samples of his breath which were over the legal limit. He was released to a sober family member, and will appear in court on November 8, 2019 on charges of Driver over .08, and Impaired Driving.
