For the last 24 hours:

Assault with a Weapon x 2 & Breach of Recognizance

At approximately 1110 hours, police were called to an address in the 900 block of Dennis Street for a stabbing that had just occurred. Investigation revealed the accused had been acting strangely, when a family member attempted too calm him down he grabbed a knife and stabbed the male youth several times in the upper left chest area. Another family member attempted to get him to stop and he stabbed her in the upper right arm.  The accused was arrested at the scene and both victims were taken to hospital for treatment of non life threatening injuries.  Additionally, the accused is currently on a Recognizance with a no weapons clause.  A 14 year old male was lodged at BCC for court in the morning to answer to the charges.

False Information

Between the 29th and the 31st of October, 2019 the accused posted a message on social media that stated “I am the school shooter or tomorrow bros let’s go”.  The accused included a photo of himself with the post.  Police were able to identify and confirm the identity of the suspect.  The School Division was notified of the post and they initiated a Division wide lockdown.  The accused was located at a Brandon school still wearing the clothes from the social media post.  The accused was arrested and stated he did not have any weapons and had no intention of doing any harm.  Police searched the accused residence and confirmed there are no weapons. A 14 year old male was released on an Appearance Notice to attend court on December 3.

Possession of Property Obtained by Crime

At approximately 1325 hours, police conducted a traffic stop in the 1500 block of 18th Street. During the initial conversation the officer observed a used syringe.  The driver and passengers were removed from the vehicle and arrested under the CDSA for suspicion of drug possession.  The vehicle was checked and no drugs were found however, two masonry saws were in plain sight in the box of the truck.  The accused admitted to the officers that the saws were stolen.  There were numerous other tools located in the truck however, it is not known at this time if they are stolen or not.  The 41 year old male was lodged for court as he is of no fixed address.  SUI

Break, Enter & Theft X3 / Theft of Motor Vehicle X3 / Fraud Use of Credit Card X2

Between August 6th and September 30th, 2019, the accused broke into a Brandon business located in 300 block of Park Ave East on three separate occasions. During the B&E’s the accused stole vehicle keys, credit cards and three different trucks. The accused also fraudulently used the stolen credit cards. A 47 year old male was arrested and released on a PTA to attend court on December 23.

Driving While ability Impaired by Drug Concentration

At approximately 2130 hours, a vehicle stop was conducted in the 400 Block of Braecrest Drive. The accused was the driver of the vehicle and displayed signs of being Impaired and an odour of burnt marihuana was emanating from the vehicle. When the accused exited the vehicle she was still holding her marihuana pipe. The female was arrested and a blood sample was obtained. A 30 year old female was released on a PTA to attend court on November 7.

Breach of Undertaking

The accused was a passenger in the vehicle noted in the above entry. Police conducted a CPIC check that revealed the accused was bound by an Undertaking with a curfew. A 33 year old male was arrested and released on a PTA to attend court on November 28.

Assault

At approximately 2110 hours, it was reported to police that the accused assaulted a youth group care home worker by punching him in the head. Both suspect and victim were located in the residence where the 18 year old male accused was arrested and released on PTA to attend court December 23.

Other Arrests:

Police arrested 1 male on his outstanding warrant, 1 intoxicated male under the IPDA and 2 males and 1 female for Breach of peace. All the individuals were lodged at BCC.
