Prohibited Weapon

On Friday afternoon, a 20 year old male from Brandon was arrested for Importing a Prohibited Weapon and Possession of a Prohibited weapon after a joint investigation with BPS members and officers from the CBSA. The male had imported a prohibited Firearm from overseas. He was Released to appear before a Justice on December 21st, 2019.

 

Warrants Executed

On Friday afternoon a male was observed operating an electric scooter erratically in the south end of Brandon. Once identified by police, the 51 year old male was found to be wanted by both BPS and WPS on outstanding warrants. He was taken into custody and later released to appear in court before a Justice in December.

 

Impaired driving

On Friday evening police observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Victoria Ave E. As officers attempted to stop the vehicle, it proceeded through several stop signs and yield signs without slowing down. The vehicle was eventually stopped along Princess Ave E, and the male operator displayed signs of being under the influence of alcohol. Police attempted to conduct a Roadside alcohol screening test, to which the male refused and then stated “I’ll just take the Charge.” The operator, a 24 year old male from Brandon, was arrested for Refusing to provide a Breath Sample.   He will be released to appear in Court on October 28th, 2019, once sober.

 

Impaired driving, firearms & Cocaine

Just before midnight on Friday evening, police were called regarding an impaired driver in the 700 block of 10th St. Police attended the area and the vehicle was stopped in the 800 block of 5th St. The driver displayed signs of impairment and was arrested on scene. As the accused exited the vehicle, a small bag containing cocaine was located under his foot. Officers then located a 22 calibre rifle in the vehicle with ammunition in the console. A 33 year old male and a 31 year old female, both from Rolling River First Nation   were arrested for the drugs and firearm possession. Both were later released to appear in court on December 16th, 2019. 

 

Attempt Break & Enter

Early Saturday morning police received an alarm at the Dome building on the Keystone grounds. Members attended and observed two males running from the building. Both suspects were caught with the assistance of the K-9 Unit. Police discovered that the suspects had thrown a large rock through one of the front windows, near the door handle, and attempted to gain entry. Both were intoxicated and were lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center to be released once sober on Promises to appear in court on 2019-12-16.

 

Possession of Meth

Early Saturday morning, Police conducted a traffic stop on Middleton Ave, with a suspected stolen vehicle. The male and female occupants were removed from the vehicle and arrested for being in possession of a stolen vehicle. The licence plates did not match, and were also found to have been stolen.  A search of the vehicle then revealed approximately 15 ounces of Meth with an estimated street value of $42000. A 47 year old male and a 32 year old female were both taken to the Brandon Correctional Center and will appear for a bail hearing on Saturday afternoon.  

 

Other Arrests. 

On Friday afternoon, a 34 year old male from Brandon was causing a disturbance in the Town Center. Officers attended and observed the male to be highly intoxicated. He was removed and lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center, to be released when sober.

On Friday evening, police were called to 3rd St N as a female who appeared to be under the influence of drugs and alcohol started yelling and pounding on a house. Officers attended and located the accused. She was lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center, to be released when sober.

On Friday evening, a 17 year old female from Brandon was observed near 1st St and McTavish Ave, and ran from police. She was eventually located hiding in a yard in the 400 block of 4th St, and found to be extremely intoxicated. Due to her level of intoxication, she was lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center, to be released when sober.

Early Saturday morning, police were dispatched to a residence on Willowdale Ave, after being called by a child stating that her mom was intoxicated and fighting with her Uncle. Upon arrival, both the male and female were highly intoxicated and combative. They were each arrested for Breach of the peace and removed from the residence. A 26 year old female and a 28 year old male were lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center, to be released when sober.
