Two Arrested Following Traffic Stop

On October 1, 2019, police received a report of the theft of tools and a vacuum from a business in the 800 block of 18th street, which occurred on September 29, 2019. Employees provided police with video surveillance of the theft which showed a male and a female were responsible.

On October 2, 2019, at approximately 9:30 pm, police conducted a traffic stop in the 900 block of Kirkaldy Ave. The passenger of the vehicle was the subject of an outstanding Arrest Warrant for Distribute Intimate Images, and Fail to attend Court. He was also the subject of the above noted theft from a business.  

The 36-year-old male passenger was arrested and searched. A small amount of Meth and approximately $300 cash was located on him. He will appear in court on both November 14 and December 2, 2019 on the warrant charges, Possession of a Controlled Substance - Meth, Possession of Proceeds of Crime and Theft under $5000.

The 36-year-old female driver was identified as the second suspect in the above noted theft. She too was arrested and found to be in possession of Meth, a baseball bat and bolt cutters. The clothing she was wearing at the time still had prices tags on them, and were reportedly stolen from a local business. She was to abide by conditions not to possess any drugs or weapons. She was lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre and will appear in court today on charges of Theft under $5000 X2, Possession of Break-in Instruments, Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Controlled Substance- Meth, and Breach of Recognizance X 2.

 

Impaired Driving

On October 3, 2019, shortly after 3:00 am, police responded to a report of a single vehicle accident in which a vehicle had driven over a curb and struck a small tree in the area of Sycamore Dr. The vehicle drove away, and was located in the area of 26th and Richmond Ave where it was stopped. One of the vehicle’s tires was so damaged, that it was being driven on its rim. The 39-year-old female driver was arrested for impaired driving. She provided two samples of her breath that were over the legal limit. She was lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre and will appear in court on October 10, 2019 on charges of Impaired Driving and Drive Over 80mg%.

 

Break and Enter to Residence

Police received a report of a break and enter to a detached garage on Elviss Cres, which occurred overnight. The suspect rummaged through the garage once inside. It is unknown if anything was taken. The homeowner believes the garage was left unlocked.

 

Break and Enter to Business

Employees to a business on Middleton Ave report a break and enter to a shed on the property, which occurred overnight. The lock on the shed was forced open. Stolen was a pressure washer, weed trimmer and a can of gasoline.

 

Breach of Peace

Shortly after 1:00 pm, police responded to a report of an intoxicated male who kept attending to the 100 block of McTavish Ave and causing a disturbance there, in spite of being asked to leave numerous times by employees. He was located there by police and arrested and lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre.

 

Possess Property Obtained by Crime

Police received a report of a stolen mountain bike occurring between September 30 and October 1, 2019 from a residence in the 4100 block of Centennial Blvd. An investigation led to the arrest of a 23-year-old male who was in possession of the bike on October 2, 2019, and attempting to sell it. He will appear in court on November 28, 2019. The mountain bike was returned to the owner.

 

Breach of Recognizance

At approximately 4:30 pm, police conducted a traffic stop in the 300 block of 18th street. One of the occupants was found to be on court ordered conditions not to have communication with another passenger. The 27-year-old male was arrested and lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre and will appear in court on November 29, 2019.

 

Theft Under $5000

At 6:00 pm, police responded to a report of the theft of approximately $100 worth of meat from a downtown business. The 39-year-old male was located nearby and still in possession of the product. He was arrested and will appear in court on November 28, 2019.

 

Mischief to Property Under $5000

On August 31, 2019, police received a report of damage to a residential window in the 2300 block of Ottawa Ave. Further investigation led police to discover that the damage occurred following a disagreement between acquaintances when the suspect attended to the complainant’s residence to continue the argument. The 19-year-old female suspect was located on September 2, 2019 and arrested. She will appear in court on November 28, 2019.

 

Arrest Warrant

Shortly after 2:00 am, police responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence. The homeowner had kicked out several intoxicated individuals who were trying to get back in. One of the individuals was found to be the subject of an outstanding arrest warrant for Theft Under $5000 and Fail to Attend Court. The 23-year-old female was arrested and lodged due to her level of intoxication. She will appear in court in Portage la Prairie on October 28. 2019.
