For the last 24 hours.

Drug Overdose

After 11:00 pm, police received a request to assist members of BFES with a suspected overdose. Two adult individuals were discovered by a third adult as unresponsive in a residential bathroom. Both individuals were transported to BRHC, one of whom remains in ICU. Police learned that the two individuals had purchased two substances, one described to them as Purple Heroin, and the other as Methamphetamine. During the course of the evening, they consumed both substances.

Initial testing of the substances they had consumed revealed a mix of Fentanyl, Butyrylfentanyl, Carfentanil and Methamphetamine. It is not clear at this stage of the investigation which of the purchased drugs contained any Fentanyl, or if they both contained some. Purple Heroin discovered in other jurisdictions has been found to contain a combination of Heroin mixed with Fentanyl, Carfentanil and other Opioids.

Investigation into the source of these substances continues.

BPS would like to remind the public of the dangers of the potentially deadly opioids. Fentanyl is a powerful synthetic opioid pain reliever that is similar to morphine and estimated to be 50 to 100 times stronger. Carfentanil is 100 times more powerful than fentanyl and as little as two milligrams could be fatal though ingestion, inhalation or absorption through the skin.

At approximately 1:00 pm, a 20-year-old female was located by staff from a business in the 1500 block of 18th street in a highly intoxicated state. The female was unable to care for herself and there was nobody to turn her over to. She was lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre.

Arrest Warrant

At approximately 1:40 pm, police responded to a report of a disturbance between two individuals on a downtown street corner. The individuals were located and had no complaints about one another; however, a 37-year-old male was found to be the subject of a warrant. He was arrested and will appear in court on September 9, 2019 for Breach of Probation.

Fail to Appear as a Witness – Contempt

At 2:00 pm, police responded to a disturbance at a residence. While investigating the disturbance, a 46-year-old female was discovered to be the subject of an outstanding arrest warrant for Fail to Appear as a Witness – Contempt. The court matter she failed to appear on was concerning an incident we had reported on May 1, 2018 in which a 55-year-old male had assaulted a 29-year-old male in the upper body with a hammer. The female was arrested and transported to Brandon Correctional Centre. She will appear in court today.

Arrest Warrant

At approximately 10:00 pm, while on patrol in the area of the 1100 block of Park Ave. police came across a 33-year-old female pedestrian who was the subject of an outstanding arrest warrant issued by Dauphin RCMP. The female was arrested and released and will appear in court in Dauphin on September 3, 2019 on charges of Fail to Appear in Court.

Allegation of Non-Compliance with conditional Sentence Order

Shortly after 10:00 pm, police received a report of a situation in which a 32-year-old male subject returned to his residence in an intoxicated state and was behaving in a way, which caused the other residents concern. The male left the residence prior to police arriving, but he was located at another location. The male was under a Conditional Sentence Order to abstain from consuming alcohol, confined to his house and yard, and not to possess cell phones. As he was in breach of three conditions, he was arrested and lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre.

Breach of Recognizance

Shortly after midnight, police received a report of a male sleeping in the driveway of a residence on Silverbirch Dr. The male was highly intoxicated. Police discovered he was on conditions to abstain from the consumption of alcohol. The 27-year-old male was arrested and lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre. He will appear in court today.

Assault With A Weapon

Prior to 3:00 am, police received a report of a disturbance at a residence. A 31-year-old female threatened the other residents in the home with a knife, indicating she would stab them. They hid in a bathroom from the female who repeatedly stabbed the door and attempted to pry it open. Nobody was injured during this incident. The female left the residence after police were called, but then called police herself once she arrived at a separate residence. She was arrested and lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre due to her intoxication level. She will be released to appear in court on August 26, 2019.
