Weapons Charges

Just before 6:00 pm, while downtown, police observed a male known to them to be on a recognizance not to attend the City of Brandon. He was arrested and searched. Located on him was a large machete concealed in his pant leg. He was also in possession of a small quantity of meth. The 35-year-old male was lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre and will appear in court today for Breach of Recognizance X 2, Possession of a Concealed Weapon, Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, and Possession of Meth.



On June 22, 2019, police received a report of an assault in progress at a downtown residence, at approximately 5:30 pm. The suspect fled prior to police arrival. The victim had been struck in the face, but did not require medical attention. Police learned that the suspect had damaged the complainant’s cell phone in an effort to destroy evidence of injuries from a separate assault committed on June 8, 2019. The suspect, a 20-year-old male, was located and arrested on Tuesday evening. He was lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre and will appear in court today on two charges of Assault, and Mischief to Property.


Weapons Charges

Shortly after 1:00 am, police were checking a downtown address for a reported runaway. Located outside the address was a 39-year-old male in possession of a cleaver. He was arrested and will be appearing in court on September 5, 2019 on charges of Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, Carry Concealed Weapon.


Possession of Property Obtained by Crime/Possession of Break-In Instrument

At approximately 2:00 am, police observed a female riding a bike in the downtown area. The female was checked and police learned the bike was reported stolen on April 19, 2019. The bike was seized and will be returned to the owner. It was identified by the serial number, which the owner provided to police at the time of the theft. She was also found in possession of a large safety hammer/car escape tool. The 32-year-old female will appear in court on September 9, 2019.


Breach of Peace

At approximately 11:00 pm, police received a report from numerous people of a disturbance at a residence in their neighbourhood. Witnesses reported hearing glass breaking and a female screaming and yelling. Police discovered the cause of the disturbance to be a 32-year-old female. She was arrested and lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre to prevent any further problems for the other individuals in her residence.
