Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm / Unsafe storage

Shortly after 7:00 am, Police received a report from family members of a male that he was in possession of two rifles, without proper authorization. The male was intoxicated and making comments to his family that were concerning. Police attended and seized the two rifles. The 52-year-old male was arrested and lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre. Once sober he was released to appear in court on August 26, 2019.

 

Breach of Peace

At approximately 8:30 am, police received a report of a male who was behaving strangely at a business in the 3500 block of Victoria Ave. The male was talking to himself and acting out physically. Police believe he was intoxicated by some type of drug. The 33-year-old male was arrested and lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre to prevent any further disturbances.

 

Assault

At 10:00 am, police received a report of a female youth who assaulted a youth care worker, by punching them, then kneeing them because of a disagreement over what to watch on TV. She was arrested at her residence, and lodged to appear in court today.

 

Theft Under $5000

A theft of $120 worth of merchandise from a downtown business was reported on May 7, 2019. Video Surveillance from the business eventually identified a suspect. On Monday, the 46-year-old male was located and arrested. He will appear in court on August 26, 2019.

 

Breach of OIC Undertaking

Shortly after 3:00 am, police received a complaint of an unwanted individual male was banging on the complainant’s door. When police arrived, the male was hiding in a shed in the complainant’s back yard. He was on conditions not to communicate with the complainant, and not to consume alcohol. The 18-year-old male was arrested and lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre to appear in court today.

 

IPDA

At approximately 11:00 pm, police received a report of a male who was stumbling around the area of the 1000 block of 11th street, highly intoxicated. The 37-year-old male was lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre.

 

Fraud Food

Shortly after 9:00 pm, police received a report of a male who ordered and consumed a meal at a restaurant in the 1500 Block of 18th Street, before leaving without paying. The staff followed the individual until he was stopped and arrested by police. The 41-year-old male will appear I court in August 26, 2019.

 

Found Sawed-Off Rifle

Police received a report from a homeowner in the East End, that they had located a sawed-off, 22-caliber, Savage Mark 12 rifle in a bush on their property. It is unknown how long the rifle was there before the homeowner discovered it. The rifle was turned over to police.

Should homeowners discover anything suspicious on their property, they can contact Brandon Police for advice on what to do with it.
