Shoplifter

On Saturday evening a 39 year old Brandon male was arrested for theft of a small amount of food items from a local retailer on Victoria Avenue. He was intoxicated and was lodged at BCC and will be released this morning to appear in court in August, charged with theft under $5,000 and breach of probation.

Two Impaired Drivers

At 10:30 pm Saturday, a 45 year old female from Rivers was stopped operating a motor vehicle in the east end of Brandon and was arrested as she exhibited physical signs of alcohol impairment. She provided samples of her breath which were over the legally allowable limit when operating a motor vehicle and was lodged at BCC. She will be released this morning and appear in court next week, charged with impaired driving and driving over 80 mg%.

At 4:00 am today, a 31 year old Brandon male was the subject of a traffic stop in the downtown area. The male exhibited physical signs of alcohol impairment and subsequently provided breath samples which were over the legally allowable limit when operating a motor vehicle. The male was released to a sober person for court at the beginning of July, and is charged with impaired driving and driving over 80 mg%.

Possession of Meth for Trafficking

Just before midnight Saturday, police initiated a traffic stop in the east end of Brandon as the license plates displayed on the vehicle were inactive. The officer approached the vehicle after it pulled over, at which time the operator sped away from the traffic stop. Police followed the vehicle in the east end of Brandon for approximately five blocks during which time the suspect vehicle never exceeded speeds of 80 kmh. The suspect vehicle then pulled over and the female driver fled on foot, while the male passenger was apprehended outside the vehicle. The female was tracked by an on duty canine unit and located. Located during the arrest and vehicle search was a mixture of various controlled substances including 9 ounces of crystal meth as well as Oxycodone, Tylenol 3, and Gabapentin. A 24 year old Brandon female is facing charges of flight from police, obstruction of a police officer, and possession of controlled substances for the purpose of trafficking. At 29 year old male of no fixed address is facing charges of possession of controlled substances for the purpose of trafficking. Both were lodged at the Brandon Correctional Centre and will be remanded this morning. 

Other Arrests

One person was arrested under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act, and one for Breach of the Peace for creating a public disturbance while intoxicated. Both were lodged and BCC and will be released when sober. One female teen was lodged at BCC late Saturday evening for consuming liquor under the age of 18 years and will be released to an adult today, and one person was arrested and processed on an outstanding warrant of arrest.
