18 June 2019 Media Release

18 JUNE 2019 MEDIA RELEASE FOR THE PAST 24 HOURS:

 

 

Break & Enter (Business):

At approximately 6:52am, an unknown suspect entered a business in the 600’ block of Rosser Ave through an insecure door. At this time it is not believed anything was stolen. Police continue to investigate.

 

Assault:

On June 8th, 2019, police began investigating an assault that occurred at the summer fair. A 15 year old female had assaulted another female by punching her in the head. On June 17th, 2019, the female suspect was located and arrested. She was released on conditions with a promise to appear in court on July 23rd, 2019.

 

Warrant Executed (Break Enter & Theft), Fail to Comply with Undertaking:

At 12:00pm, police were called to a residence in the 1500’ block of 26th Street for a disturbance. Upon arrival police located a 20 year old intoxicated female who was causing problems. She was found to be in breach of an undertaking for consuming alcohol and having contact with a person at the residence. She also had a warrant of arrest for Break Enter & Theft. She was arrested and lodged at BCC to be released when sober for court on July 10th, 2019.

 

Warrant Executed (Fail to Comply with Probation):

At 1:20pm, police located a 25 year old female in the 200’ block of 5th Street who had an outstanding warrant of arrest from Portage RCMP for failing to comply with probation. She was lodged at BCC for court on June 18th, 2019.

 

Theft Under $5000 (Shoplifting), Warrant Executed (FTC Probation, FTA court):

At 2:20pm, police were called to a business in the 900’ block of 18th Street North for a female shoplifter. Upon arrival, police located the 38 year old suspect outside the store with a quantity of merchandise. She was also found to have a warrant of arrest for failing to comply with probation and failing to attend court. She was arrested and lodged at BCC for court on June 18th, 2019.

 

Assault Causing Bodily Harm:

At 4:12pm, police received a complaint from a male that he had been assaulted approximately two hours prior in the 900’ block of Pacific Ave. It was learned the complainant had an argument with another male and at that time was slashed in the back by a female with an unknown object causing a shallow laceration. At 6:20pm, the 49 year old female suspect was located and arrested. She was released on conditions for court on August 19th, 2019.

 

Breach of Peace:

At 11:06pm, police were called to a residence in the 800’ block of 14th Street for a disturbance. Police located a 15 year old male who was causing problems. He was transported by police to another residence to calm down; however, shortly after being turned over there police were called back. The youth was lodged at BCC to be released in the morning to prevent any further problems for the evening.

 

Breach of Peace:

At 1:37am, police were called to a residence in the 1200’ block of Rosser Ave for a disturbance. A 57 year old male was located intoxicated and causing problems. He was lodged at BCC to be released when sober.

 

Impaired Driving:

At 2:58am, police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 3100’ block of Victoria Ave. The driver, a 24 year old Calgary man, was found to be impaired. He was arrested and transported to BPS where he provided samples of his breath which were double the legal limit. He was lodged at BCC for court on June 18, 2019.
