Domestic Assault

At 1134 am Sunday June 16th police were called to a residence in the West end of Brandon for a disturbance. It was found that a 21 year old Brandon male had assaulted his girlfriend during an argument by choking her and punching her in the stomach. The male then prevented the female from leaving the residence. The male fled the residence prior to police arrival however, returned a short time later and was taken into custody without incident. The male will appear in court this morning on charges of Assault, Forcible Confinement, Choking to Overcome Resistance and Uttering threats.

Domestic Assault

At 4:00 pm Sunday June 16th police arrested a 23 year old male at BCC after receiving a complaint from his former girlfriend that on the 7th June 2019 while at a residence in the 3500 block of Willowdale Cres, the male pointed a rifle at her and others during a party. The male also struck the female in the face and chest. The males was charged with Possession of a Weapon, Assualt and Pointing a firearm. He will appear in court this morning.


Other Arrests

One person was arrested and detained under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act.

Bear Mace incident

At 9:32 pm, Sunday June 16th, police received a report that a 17 year old male had been Mace’d at the Skatepark. The victim also had his red CAPIX, BMX bike stolen. An ambulance attended the scene to care for the victim. The male was described as an aboriginal male, wearing a blue shirt, dark sweatpants and riding a scooter. Police are continuing to investigate.

Drug charges

At 1050 pm, Sunday June 16th, police stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of Richmond Ave, as it had expired license plates. Open liquor was observed in the vehicle and a further search led to the discovery of dozens of needles and multiple packages of suspected Crystal Meth totaling 32.5 grams and a street value of approx. $3250.00 The three occupants of the vehicle were all charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Meth and all three will appear in court on Monday morning.

Weapons offences

At 1:37 am, June 17th, 2019, police stopped a vehicle in the 400 blk of 6th street due to a burnt out headlight. Further police investigation led to the discovery of an axe by the driver’s right leg. A baseball bat wrapped in black tape between his left leg and the driver’s side door, and a knife was located in the driver’s side door pocket. The 44 year old male from Riverton, MB, is to appear in Brandon court this morning.
