Media Release for the last 24 hours

 

Impaired Driving / Drive while Prohibited

At approx. 10:38 AM on Saturday morning Police stopped a vehicle in the 500 block of 6th St.  The officer believed driver appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and administered a roadside screening test, which the driver failed.  As a result, the 23-year-old Brandon male was arrested and later provided two samples of his breath which registered higher than the legal limit.  The male was released to appear in court on June 13th, charged with Impaired driving and Drive Over .08

 

Assault Cause Bodily Harm / Possession of Controlled Substance

At approx. 7:50 on Saturday morning Police were called to an assault in the 1500 block of Rosser Ave.  An 18-year-old Sioux Valley female punched another female in the mouth, knocking out a tooth. The assailant was arrested and when searched incident to arrest officers discovered a small amount of Meth.  The suspect was released for court on August 1st.

 

Possession of a Prohibited Weapon / Breach of Undertaking

At approx. 11:30 PM while conducting a foot patrol of the Summer Fair Officers checked an intoxicated male.  The 27-year-old male from Carberry was found to be on an Undertaking with a condition that he not consume alcohol.  As he was clearly under the influence of alcohol, he was arrested for breaching the order.  A search incident to arrest revealed he had a butterfly knife (prohibited) in his possession. Further search revealed a cellphone also in his possession.  A second condition of his Undertaking is that he not possess a cellphone.  The accused was lodged at the Brandon Correctional Centre until sober at which time he will be released with a court date of August 6th.

 

Possession of a Prohibited Weapon / Carry Concealed Weapon

At approx. 8:25 PM on Saturday evening while conducting a foot patrol of the Summer Fair, officers checked a male and found him to be concealing a can of bear mace.  The 18-year-old Brandon male was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon, and possession of a prohibited weapon.  He was lodged at the Brandon Correctional Centre and will be released later this morning with a court date of August 8th.

 

Breach of Undertaking

At approx. 6:20 PM Saturday evening officers were requested to assist security with an intoxicated male at the Summer Fair.  Officers attended to the area and took custody of the 22-year-old Brandon male.  A database check of the male revealed he is currently bound by an Undertaking with a condition that he not consume alcohol. Due to his intoxication he was arrested and lodged at the Brandon Correctional Centre and will be released later this morning with a court date of August 6th for breaching his Undertaking.

 

Consume Liquor in a Public Place

At approx. 9:20 PM while conducting a foot patrol of the Summer Fair officers assisted security staff with a highly intoxicated male.  The male was consuming liquor in a travel mug and was seen stumbling through the fairgrounds with his pants falling down around his knees.  The 25-year-old from Outlook Sask was arrested and lodged at the Brandon Correctional Centre. Once sober he will be issued a ticket under the Liquor, Gaming and Cannabis Control Act. 

 

Mischief to Property – Tire Slashing

On Thursday June 6th, Police received 7 reports of vehicles with slashed tires. These incidents occurred in the 700 block of 17th St, 700 block of 16th St, and the 800 block of 15th St.  After further investigation officers arrested a 17-year-old Brandon male for this series of incidents.  He was released on a Promise to Appear in Court on July 2nd

 

Other Arrests

  • One male was lodged at the Brandon Correctional Centre for Breach of the Peace
  • One male additional male was arrested under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act, from the Summer Fair, he was lodged at the Brandon Correctional Centre until sober
