Residential Break and Enter

On Friday afternoon an apartment in the downtown area was found to have been unlawfully entered sometime in the previous five days while the tenant was away. A computer router and some toiletry items were stolen from the suite.

Weapon Possession

At 8:25 pm Friday, a Brandon youth was arrested at the grounds of the Summer Fair after police attended a fight. No one involved in the fight wished to provide any information to police, however one male youth was searched after arrest and found to be in possession of a knife that was concealed in his clothing. The male was lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre overnight and will be released today to appear in court in July, and is facing one charge of Possession of a Weapon.

Possess Stolen Property

At 10:10 pm Friday, two persons were taken into custody in regards to an ongoing investigation regarding a stolen vehicle. Subsequent to that arrest, members of the Criminal Investigation Unit executed a search warrant at a building in the downtown area of Brandon where a 2011 Jeep Compass that was previously reported stolen was located. A 46-year-old Brandon male was charged with Possession of Stolen Property and released to appear in court in August. The second person was released without charge.

Other Arrests

Three people were arrested and detained under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act, one person was arrested and detained for Breach of the Peace for being involved in a public disturbance while intoxicated, four people were processed on outstanding BPS arrest warrants, and three youths were arrested and detained overnight due to their intoxication.
