 Warrant Executed

On May 1st, 2019, at 6:30 am, a 38 year old woman from Brandon turned herself in to BPS when she discovered she had a warrant from Swan River RCMP for Utter Threats and Breach of Recognizance. The woman was lodged at BCC and will appear in Brandon Court on May 2nd, 2019.

 

Warrant Executed

On May 1st, 2019, at 6:55 am, police located a 31 year old woman in the 1300 blk of Rosser Avenue. The woman was found to have a warrant for her arrest for Fail to Attend Court. The woman was lodged at BCC and will appear in Brandon Court on May 2nd, 2019.

 

Warrant Executed

On May 1st, 2019, at 2:16 pm, police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 1000 blk of McTavish Avenue. The 47 year old passenger was found to have a warrant for Fail to Attend Court as well as Fail to Attend for Identification. The man was lodged at BCC and will appear in Brandon Court on May 2nd, 2019.

 

Intoxicated Person Detention Act

On May 1st, 2019, at 2:55 pm, police attended to a business in the downtown area to assist security in dealing with an uncooperative, intoxicated male. The 29 year old Brandon man was lodged at BCC and will be released when sober.

 

Breach of Probation

On May 1st, 2019, at 3:35 pm, police checked a man in a parking lot in the 900 blk of Victoria Avenue. At that time, police learned that the man was on a Probation Order with a condition he not attend to that location. The man was subsequently arrested and released on a PTA to appear in Brandon Court on July 2nd, 2019.

 

Mischief to Property / Attempt Prison Breach

On May 1st, 2019, at 6:30 pm, Brandon Police charged three current inmates at BCC as a result of an ongoing investigation into a complaint received on April 25th, 2019 that the trio had damaged a wall at BCC. All three men, a 28, 29 and 31 year old will appear in Brandon Court on May 2nd, 2019

 

PPT Fentanyl / Trafficking Fentanyl / Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Weapon / Proceeds of Crime

On May 1st, 2019, at 11:42 am, Brandon Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle. During the course of the investigation, police seized 80 grams of Fentanyl with a potential maximum street value of $ 48,000.00 as well a quantity of cash. One of the two individuals arrested was also found in possession of a conductive energy weapon which had been disguised as a flashlight. As a result of the investigation, the two occupants of the vehicle were both arrested. A 59 year old man from Starbuck, Manitoba was also charged with breaching his Court Ordered Recognizance by being found in Possession of the illegal drugs and for communicating with the other individual in the car. The second man in the car was a 35 year old man from Winnipeg who was also arrested on the strength of a Manitoba radius warrant for Assault and Mischief Under $ 5000.00.  Both men were lodged at BCC and are to appear in Brandon Court on May 2nd, 2019.

 

Break and Enter (Shed)

On May 1st, 2019, at 2:45 pm, police received a complaint of a B&E to a shed located at a residence in the 500 blk of Rosser Avenue East. No other incidents were reported to police from that area.

 

Breach of Peace

On May 1st, 2019, at 5:07 pm, police attended to a complaint of a person running into traffic in the 900 blk of Princess Avenue. The 17 year old youth was lodged and BCC to prevent any further breach of the peace.

  

UPDATE:     Attempt Murder / Aggravated Assault

On April 29th, 2019, at 9:35 am, police responded to a stabbing complaint at the Brandon Correctional Centre. It was alleged that one inmate had stabbed another inmate with a home fashioned edged weapon. The victim was sent to hospital with a non-life threatening wound. Police initially charged a 21 year old man for Assault with a Weapon, Assault Causing Bodily Harm, and Possess Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose as well as Breach of Probation. After a review of the incident, Brandon Police have upgraded the charges in this incident to Attempt Murder as well as Aggravated Assault. The man will re appear in Brandon Court on May 2nd, 2019.

 

Warrant Executed

On May 1st, 2019, at 9:24 pm, police attended to an unrelated complaint at a residence in the 100 blk of 1st Street. While there, a 16 year old youth was found to be at large on a Winnipeg Police Service warrant for Assault. The youth was arrested and lodged at BCC and will be released on a PTA to appear in Winnipeg Court on June 11th, 2019.

 

Warrant Executed

On May 2nd, 2019, at 3:32 am, a 29 year old man attended to BPS when he became aware that Winnipeg Police held a warrant for his arrest for Fail to Attend Court as well as for Identification. The man was arrested and lodged at BCC and will appear in Brandon Court on May 2nd, 2019.
