18 APRIL 2019 MEDIA RELEASE FOR THE PAST 24 HOURS:

 

 

Breach of Recognizance, Possession of Meth, Arrest Warrant Executed:

On April 17, 2019, at 6:33am police conducted a pedestrian check in the 600’ block of 10th Street. A 26 year old Brandon man was found to be breaching a curfew condition of his recognizance. A search incidental to his arrest revealed a small amount of methamphetamine on his person. He was arrested and lodged at BCC for court on April 17, 2019. Police also arrested a 21 year old Brandon man in the same stop as he had an outstanding warrant of arrest for failing to comply with probation. He was released for court on May 28, 2019.

 

Impaired Driving:

On April 17, 2019, at 9:34am police received a complaint of a possible impaired driver on highway 1 heading into Brandon. The vehicle was stopped by police in the 1900’ block of 18th Street north and the driver was in fact found to be impaired. He was arrested and provided samples of his breath which were more than double the legal limit. He was released for court on April 25, 2019.

 

Arrest Warrant Executed (Assault, Utter Threats, Theft under $5000 x2, Mischief to Property, Breach of Recognizance, and Breach of Undertaking):

On April 17, 2019, at 12:19pm police located a 39 year old Brandon woman who was wanted for the above offences in the 000’ block of 8th Street N. She was lodged at BCC for court on April 18, 2019.

 

Arrest Warrant Executed (Theft under $5000):

On April 17, 2019, Winnipeg police advised they had a 20 year old woman in custody on the strength of a warrant from BPS for theft under $5000. She was held in Winnipeg for court on April 18, 2019.

 

Fraud Over $5000:

On October 24, 2018, police received a complaint from a business in the 300’ block of Park Ave East indicating an employee was responsible for stealing from the business over the past several months. After a lengthy investigation by the BPS Criminal Investigation Unit, the employee, a 33 year old male, was arrested for fraud over $5000. He was released for court on June 17, 2019.

 

Assault with a weapon:

On April 9, 2019, police received a report from CFS that a teenage girl had been assaulted by her parents over the past couple of days. On April 17, 2019, the parents, a 38 year old male and 42 year old female, were charged for the assault. They will appear in court on June 10, 2019.

 

Intoxicated Person Detention Act:

On April 17, 2019, at 3:20pm police were called to the 800’ block of Rosser Ave for two intoxicated males. Police arrested a 45 year old man and a 42 year old man as they were intoxicated and unable to care for themselves. They were lodged at BCC to be released when sober.

 

Mischief under $5000 (graffiti), Arrest Warrant Executed:

On April 17, 2019, at 4:22pm a man was observed spray painting a wall in the 400’ block of 9th Street. He was stopped by police and also found to have a warrant for breach of undertaking. He was arrested and lodged at BCC for court on April 18, 2019.

 

Intoxicated Person Detention Act:

On April 17, 2019, at 10:39pm police attended to a business in the 1000’ block of 18th Street for an intoxicated female. Upon arrival police located the 34 year old woman in the parking lot. She was lodged at BCC to be released when sober.

 

Breach of Peace:

On April 17, 2019, at 8:14pm police responded to a disturbance in the 600’ block of Princess Ave East. A 41 year old man was located under the influence of a drug and lodged at BCC to be released when sober.

 

Intoxicated Person Detention Act:

On April 17, 2019, at 7:47pm police were called to a business in the 1500’ block of 18th Street for an intoxicated male. A 55 year old Sioux Valley man was located highly intoxicated near the entrance to the building. He was lodged at BCC to be released when sober.

 

Breach of Undertaking:

On April 18, 2019, at 12:02am police conducted a pedestrian check in the 500’ block of 10th Street. An 18 year old male was found to be breaching his undertaking for not residing as directed and not reporting an address change. He was released for court on June 10, 2019.

 

Intoxicated Person Detention Act:

On April 18, 2019, at 12:25am police located an intoxicated 51 year old man in the 3400’ block of Willowdale Cres. He was lodged at BCC to be released when sober.

 

Theft of Motor Vehicle, Theft under $5000, Breach of Recognizance:

On April 9, 2019, police responded to a complaint of a stolen vehicle (Mazda Protégé) from a business in the 3100 block of Victoria Ave. On April 14, 2019, the vehicle was recovered by police abandon in the 300’ block of 11th Street. Investigation identified the suspect as a 43 year old Brandon man, who at the time of the theft was also in breach of a curfew condition on his recognizance. On April 17, 2019, the male was located and arrested for the theft. He was lodged at BCC for court on April 18, 2019.

 

Intoxicated Person Detention Act:

On April 18, 2019, at 12:55am police responded to a complaint of a man sleeping a vestibule of a business in the 900’ block of Rosser Ave. A 42 year old man was arrested and lodged to be released when sober.

 

Arrest Warrant Executed:

On April 18, 2019, at 2:40am police responded to a disturbance in the 1200’ block of Rosser Ave. A 51 year old Brandon man was located intoxicated. He also had an outstanding warrant for failing to attend for prints. He was lodged to be released when sober for court on May 27, 2019.
