Break, Enter and Theft

At 10:00 AM on Saturday morning officers were called to an apartment in the 600 block of 11th St for a break and enter.  The suspect(s) reportedly entered the apartment while the tenant slept and stole several items including the keys to a vehicle, parked outside.  The keys were then used to steal the vehicle, which has been located just a few blocks away.  The matter is still under investigation.

Impaired Driving

At approx. 1:00 PM Saturday afternoon police received a report of a highly intoxicated male driving away from the Liquor store located at 10th and Victoria.  Officers located the vehicle near 2nd and Victoria were a vehicle stop was conducted.  The driver, a 58-year-old Brandon male displayed signs of impairment and was arrested for impaired driving.  He provided samples of his breath with readings twice the legal limit. He was charged for impaired driving and driving while over .08 and then was released on a Promise to Appear in Court on April 11th, 2019.

Theft of Motor Vehicle

Shortly after 10:00 AM on Saturday Police were notified by Rivers Police that two male suspects had been in their community using what appeared to be a stolen credit card.  Rivers Police were able to provide a detailed description of the vehicle which had left prior to their arrival.  Within 15 mins the vehicle was located near 1st St and Braecrest Dr in Brandon and a vehicle stop was conducted.  The investigation revealed the two males inside, 25 and 20 years of age both of Brandon were responsible for a series of offences earlier in the day.  They had stolen the truck in Brandon, then gone to Kemnay were it appears they stole items from vehicles in that community and then gone on to Rivers were they used stolen credit cards.  The two males were arrested and lodged at the Brandon Correctional Centre and will appear in court this morning. They are charged with Theft of Vehicle, Possession of Property obtained by Crime x 3, Prohibited Driving and will also be subject to charge in Rivers for the fraudulent use of the credit card.

Mischief to Property

At 9:30 AM on Saturday a break and enter was reported in the 1600 block of Lorne Ave.  The caller stated that overnight someone forced his way into the sunroom.  The suspect appeared to leave as soon as he realized he did not belong in the residence, but dropped his cellphone as he left.  Officers tracked down the suspect on Saturday afternoon and he was charged with Mischief under $5000 and released on a Promise to Appear in Court on June 3rd.  

Take Motor Vehicle without Owner’s Consent

At 9:05 PM Saturday, police conducted a vehicle stop in the 800 block of 13th St. as the vehicle appeared to be unregistered.  Officers observed a small bag of marihuana in the console of the vehicle during the stop. They also found the 20-year-old Brandon male was disqualified from driving and on Probation with a condition not to communicate with the vehicle owner. Further investigation revealed the accused had taken the vehicle from the owner without having their consent.  The driver was arrested and charged for Taking the Vehicle without Consent, Breach of Probation, Drive Disqualified, and for Unlawful Transportation of Marihuana in a Vehicle.  He will appear in Court on May 6th .

Breach of Recognizance / Public Mischief

At 2:00 AM police conducted a traffic stop in the 800 block of 9th St.  The driver appeared to have had consumed alcohol prior to driving therefore a roadside screening test was requested.  The drive registered a warn on the roadside test however further investigation revealed he had provided the officers with a false name.  Once his identity was confirmed officers found that he was the subject of a Recognizance Order with a condition that he not consume alcohol.  He was arrested for Breaching the Order and for Public Mischief.  The 30-year-old male of no fixed address was lodged at the Brandon Correctional Centre and will appear in Court later today.

Possession of Property Obtained by Crime

At 4:00 AM this morning Police observed a female driving a vehicle in the 300 block of 10th St.  The officer recognized the vehicle but not the driver and therefore conducted a vehicle stop.  The registered owner of the vehicle was contacted to confirm the vehicle had been stolen.  The 28-year-old Brandon female was charged with being in possession of property obtained by crime and was released on a Promise to Appear in Court on June 3rd.


Other Arrests: 

  • Two males were lodged at the Brandon Correctional Centre with charges of breaching curfew conditions
  • One female was lodged at the Brandon Correctional Centre for breach of the peace.
