MEDIA RELEASE FOR THE PAST 24 HOURS

 

Break Enter and Theft / Mischief to Property

 On August 9, 2018, the Central Community Centre was broken into and their stereo was stolen.  During the break-in, the suspect also caused a large amount of damage to the inside of the Centre.  As a result of continued investigation a suspect for this incident was identified.  On Saturday Feb 9, the investigating officer located the accused and arrested him for Break, Enter and Theft, and Mischief to Property under $5000.  The 37 year old Brandon male was released on a Promise to Appear in Court on April 8th 2019.

 

Theft Under $5000  

At approx. 3:00 PM Saturday, Police were called to a business in the 1500 block of 18th St.  A 33-year-old male from Brandon had been stopped after stealing $50 worth of merchandise. The accused male was arrested, and then later released on a Promise to Appear with a court date of April 11, 2019.

  

Theft Under $5000 

During a patrol of the downtown area, officers checked a male in the 100 block of 7th St.  The officer recognized the male from a Liquor Mart theft, which occurred on Feb 2 and had been captured on video surveillance.  The 24 year old Brandon was arrested for theft and due to intoxication was lodged at the Brandon Correctional Centre.  He has since been released on a Promise to Appear with a court date of April 1, 2019.

 

BPS Warrant Executed 

At 7:00 AM Saturday police were called to the area of the 1100 block of Queens Cres for a suspicious male.  Officers located an intoxicated male in the lobby of a building at that location.  The 27-year-old Brandon male was found to be the subject of a warrant held by the Brandon Police Service for Possession of a Controlled Substance (Meth), Breach of Probation and Fail to Attend Court.  The male was lodged at the Brandon Correctional Centre until sober, and then released on a Promise to Appear in Court on March 11, 2019.

 

Possession of Controlled Substance / BPS Warrant Executed 

At approx. 10:25 PM Saturday, Police were called to the 100 block of 15th St for a disturbance.  Upon arrival the male causing the disturbance had left however he was located in the 200 block of 16th St.  The male fled on foot, pursued by police until caught in the 100 block of 18th St.  The 24-year-old Brandon male was arrested when found to be the subject of an outstanding Brandon Police warrant for Breach of Probation.  During a search of the male upon arrest, officers located approx. 6 grams of Meth concealed in his clothing.  He was lodged at the Brandon Correctional Centre and will appear in court this morning. 

 

Domestic Assault   

At approx. 11:55 PM Saturday evening, officers attended to the 400 block of 5th St for an assault.  A female indicated her common-law had beat her up and choked her.  The 30 year old Brandon male was arrested on scene.  The accused was lodged at the Brandon Correctional Centre until sober at which time he will be released on a Promise to Appear.  The female victim did not require medical attention.
