Assault Peace Officer

At approx. 2:45 PM on Friday Feb 8th, Police were called to an office in the 700 block of 1st St for an assault.  Upon arrival it was learned that a Probation Officer was in attendance at the office, when a 16 year old female approached her from behind shoved her.  The incident appears to have been unprovoked.  The youth, who had left prior to officers attending, was located later in the day, has been charged with Assault Peace Officer.  She will appear in court on March 5th 2019.


Theft Under $5000 / RCMP Warrant Executed


At approx. 3:25 PM Friday, Police were called to a business in the 1500 block of 18th St.  A 49 year old female from Portage La Prairie had been stopped after stealing $90 worth of merchandise.  While dealing with the female it was discovered that the Dauphin RCMP currently had a warrant for her arrest for the charge of Assault Peace Officer.  The accused female was arrested and then later released on a Promise to Appear with a court date of April 1, 2019.


Prohibited Driving / Possession of a Prohibited Weapon


At approx. 4:40 this morning Officers observed a 2007 Toyota Corolla travelling the wrong direction on a one way street near the 1200 block of Princess Ave.  The vehicle was stopped in the 200 block of 12th St. and the driver was identified.  The 24 year old Brandon man was found to be prohibited from driving in Canada and he was therefore arrested.  A search incident to arrest resulted in the discovery that he was carrying a can of pepper spray in his pocket. Further queries revealed he is the subject of a weapon prohibition order. The accused has since been released on a promise to appear in court on April 8th 2019.  His charges include, Prohibited Driving, Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, Possession of a Weapon Dangerous, and Possession of a Weapon contrary to a Prohibition Order. 


Other Arrests:


  • A 45 year old male was lodged at the Brandon Correctional Centre under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act. 
  • A 26 year old female was lodged at the Brandon Correctional Centre for Breach of the Peace
