06 November 2018 Special Media Release:

 

On November 01st 2018 at approximately 6:13pm, Brandon Police Service received information of a male claimed he would steal a plane from Brandon, Manitoba and land it at the Parliament Building in Ottawa. Brandon Police Service members spoke with staff at Brandon Airport and the Brandon Flying Club, who were advised no airplanes were stolen from the airport and they will take the necessary precautions to prevent this from happening.

Several police agencies were involved and it was learned the male was in a vehicle driving from Alberta and claimed to be on a one way trip to Ottawa, Ontario. Police were able to track the male and learned he was near Ingnace, Ontario traveling east on the Trans-Canada Highway at 9:44pm on November 01st, 2018.

The information was sent to the appropriate Ontario Provincal Police and Municipal police agencies in the area, as well as officials in Ottawa have been alerted as well.
