Brandon Police Service Media Release for the Past 24 Hours.

Impaired Driving:

At approximately 2:45 a.m., Police observed a vehicle with no headlights on travelling in the downtown area. A vehicle stop was conducted with the male driver of the vehicle displaying signs of impairment. The 26-year-old man from Lac Du Bonnet Manitoba was transported to the Police Service and provided breath samples that exceeded the legal limit. The man was arrested for Impaired Driving and Drive Over 80 mg%. He was released and scheduled to appear in Court later this month.

    

Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Methamphetamine and Cocaine:

At approximately 1:40 a.m., Police stopped a vehicle in the 1500 Block of Pacific Avenue after determining that the vehicle registration was expired. The male driver of the vehicle was found to be in possession of a small bag of methamphetamine and a search of the vehicle recovered approximately 35 grams of methamphetamine and 10 grams of cocaine. The 19-year-old male driver of no fixed address and 30-year-old female passenger from Boissevain Manitoba were taken into Police custody. The male was arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine and Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking. He was lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center and is scheduled to appear in Court on Thursday. The female passenger of the vehicle was also arrested for Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Methamphetamine and Cocaine. She was released to attend Court in December. The estimated street value of the seized drugs is approximately $5300.

 

Break, Enter and Assault with a Weapon:

At approximately 7:45 p.m., Police responded to a residence in the east end of Brandon after a female reported that her ex-boyfriend broke into her residence and assaulted her by punching her, throwing a can of beer at her hitting her in the head and then kicking her in the ribs. The female victim received minor physical injuries but did not require medical assistance. The male suspect fled the residence prior to Police arrival. The 38-year-old man was located by Police at a nearby residence. He was arrested for Break, Enter and Commit Assault with a Weapon. The male suspect was lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center and is scheduled to appear in Court on Thursday.

 

Assault:

On Monday afternoon, Police responded to a disturbance at a youth care home. A male youth resident committed an assault against another youth resident. The assault consisted of the suspect punching the victim in the head. A male staff member of the home attempted to intervene and was punched in the head by the suspect. Neither victim required medical attention because of the assaults. The 17-year-old male youth was arrested for Assault X2 and released to attend Court in November.

 

Other Arrests:

Three individuals were arrested for Breach of Peace and lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center to be released when sober.

Two individuals were arrested on outstanding Arrest Warrants.
