Domestic Assault

At 2:37pm on Saturday, police received a 911 call from a female reporting that her partner had just choked her and fled from the residence on foot.  Police were able to locate the male suspect a short distance away and the 47 year old male was arrested.  Due to his level of intoxication he was lodged at the Brandon Correctional center until sober.   He was released Sunday morning and is to appear in court on November 5th 2018.

 

Breach of Probation

At approximately 5:00pm on Saturday, police were called to the Real Canadian Superstore on Victoria Ave, for two male suspects who were attempting to steal products. Both males had been stopped by the Loss Prevention officer, and the products were recovered however the suspects then left the area. Police were able to track them into the downtown area, where they were located, highly intoxicated.  A 41 year old male was arrested after police learned that he was on a Probation Order with conditions not to attend Superstore. He was lodged at BCC until sober to be released for court On November 26, 2018. The second male was detained under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act.

At 01:12, officers conducted a persons check with a male and female in the 900 block of 18th St N. After their identities were confirmed, police learned that the male subject was on probation order with conditions not to communicate with the female.  A 36 year old male was arrested and released on a PTA for court on November 8th, 2018.

 

Warrants Executed

Shortly after 9:00pm on Saturday night, police conducted a traffic stop in the 1500 block of Princess Ave. The operator, a 33 year old female, was found to have an outstanding Warrant of arrest for Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and Fraud Under $5,000.  She was arrested a and was released on a Promise to Appear in court for November 1st, 2018.

 

Shortly after midnight, at 00:24, officers attended  to a residence on Westaway Bay to conduct a curfew check, and attempt to locate a male with an outstanding warrant of arrest.  The 52 year old male presented himself at the door and was arrested for failing to attend and provide his fingerprints to the police. He was released on a PTA for court on November 1st, 2018.

 

At 00:54, police received  a call about a couple of unwanted guests in the 700 block of 9th St. Upon Police arrival they located a 27 year old male who was wanted on outstanding unendorsed warrants. He was arrested and Lodged for court later in the day.

 

Break & Enter

At 23:53, police received a report of an alarm at the Southwest Regional Metis Centre, on 6th St. Upon the officers arrival it was determined that the SRMC had been broken into and a K9 track was attempted no suspects were located. Northeast door was kicked in, resulting in damage to door frame. This incident is still under investigation and video surveillance from the area is being reviewed.

 

Possession of Drugs and Weapons

At 00:25, a vehicle was waived into a check stop in the 2900 block of Victoria Ave with two male occupants. Initially there was open liquor spotted in the vehicle and when Police attempted to gain the identity of the two males, one provided a false name. While police tried to confirm his identity, the male opened the door and attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended after a brief foot pursuit. He was found to have a small quantity of Meth on him. Also in the vehicle was a baseball bat, a hatchet and another small quantity of Meth. A 33 year old male from Brandon was arrested for   Public Mischief, Resist Arrest, Breach of Recognizance x 3, Possession of a Controlled Substance (Meth), Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose.   The second occupant, a 48 year old male from Newdale, was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose and having Open Liquor in the vehicle.   Both were lodged at the Brandon Correctional center to appear for court in the AM.

 

Impaired Driving

 At 03:37, police conducted a traffic stop in the 3500 block of Richmond Ave after following a vehicle travelling southbound on 34th St.  The vehicle had come to a complete stop at both traffic circles at Willowdale Cres and Richmond Ave, even though there was no traffic anywhere to be scene. After stopping the vehicle, the driver showed signs of impairment and was arrested for impaired driving.  The 25 year old male later provided two breath samples over the legal limit and was arrested for Drive Over .08.  He was lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center, to be served his court paperwork once sober.  He will appear in Court on October 15th, 2018.

 

Other Arrests

At approximately 10:00pm on Saturday night, after calling police multiple times throughout the day about suspects climbing on the roof of his building, including Spiderman, police arrested a 40 year old male who was intoxicated by drugs for Breach of the Peace.  He was lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center to be released when sober.

One other person was arrested for Breach of the Peace and will be released when sober.
