Arrest Warrant Executed:

On Wednesday morning at approximately 11:15am, a male attended to the Brandon Police Service to turn himself in on his outstanding Warrant of Arrest for Fail to Attend Prints. A 62yr old Brandon man was arrested and released to appear in Court on November 01st.

On Wednesday afternoon at approximately 3:00pm, Police attended to Brandon Correctional Centre to execute an outstanding Warrant of Arrest on a male who was presently in custody. The warrant was for Breach of Probation and Theft Under. A 37yr old man was arrested and remained lodged at BCC for Court on October 04th.

On Wednesday afternoon at approximately 2:33pm, Police were dispatched to the 1200 block 18th Street on an unrelated matter and located a female at the scene. Police learned the female had an outstanding Warrant of Arrest for Breach of Probation and Fail to Attend Court. A 37yr Brandon woman was arrested and released to appear in Court on November 01st.

On Wednesday evening at approximately 7:39pm, Police were requested to a residence in the 3500 block of Willowdale Crescent for a female trying to harm herself. Police learned the female had an outstanding Warrant of Arrest for Theft Under. A 32yr old woman was arrested and released to appear in Court on November 01st.

On Wednesday night at approximately 10:06pm, Police located a male suspect inside a vehicle in the 000 block of 3rd Street attempting to steal items from the vehicle. Police learned the male suspect had an outstanding Swan River RCMP Warrant of Arrest for Breach of Probation. A 45yr old man was arrested for the outstanding Warrant, Theft Under and Possession of Property obtain by Crime. The male was lodged at BCC to appear in Court on October 04th.

On Wednesday night at approximately 10:45pm, Police observed a male suspect in 500 block of Louise Avenue knowing to have an outstanding Warrant of Arrest for Fail to Attend Court as a Witness. The male suspect was located along with several other people. A 20yr old Brandon man was arrested for Warrant of Arrest and lodged at BCC to appear in Court on October 04th.

On Wednesday night, Portage RCMP advised Brandon Police Service they arrested a male suspect on the strength of a BPS Warrant of Arrest for Breach of Probation. A 53yr old Portage la Prairie, Mb man was arrested and lodged to appear in Portage la Prairie Court on October 04th.

Possession of a Prohibited Weapon and Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose:

On Wednesday night, Police were in the 500 block of Louise Avenue on another matter and learned a 19yr old Brandon man was found to be in possession of a prohibited weapon. The male was arrested and lodged at BCC to appear in Court on October 04th.

Break, Enter and Theft:

An ongoing investigation from August 2018 of Break, Enter and Theft from a residence in the 100 block of 5th Street has resulted in an arrest. Police viewed the surveillance video and identified a male suspect as responsible for the theft. A 17yr old Brandon male youth was arrested and released to appear in Court on October 30th.

Robbery with Violence:

An ongoing investigation from August 2018 of Robbery with Violence at an establishment in the 1100 block of 18th Street has resulted in an arrest. Police viewed the surveillance video and identified a female suspect as responsible for the Robbery with Violence. A 21yr old woman was arrested and released to appear in Court on November29th.

Impaired Driving and Possession of Cocaine:

On Thursday morning at approximately 01:10am, Police conducted a traffic stop in 1700 block of Pacific Avenue after observing the vehicle travel the wrong way in the 1700 block of Rosser Avenue. The male driver displayed signs of impairment and was arrested for impaired driving. The male subsequently provided samples of his breath which resulted in readings of his blood alcohol content over the legal limit. Subject to arrest, the male suspect was found to have two baggies of cocaine on his person. A 27yr old Calgary, Ab man was arrested and lodged at BCC to appear in Court on October 04th.

Snow Cleaning Reminder:

A reminder to all businesses that as per the Traffic Bylaw 5463/16/87 10.7(a) that before 100:00am on each day, following every snowfall that the snow be removed and sand, salt, or any other substance that will not damage the sidewalk by applied as to prevent a hazardous condition to vehicle or pedestrian traffic. Tickets for this offence may be issued without warning.

Operation Impact 2018:

Educating the public in safe driving practices is a priority. The focus will be on behaviours that put drivers, passengers and other road users most at risk: impaired driving, lack of seat belt use, aggressive driving and distracted driving.

It is not a coincidence that the timing of this campaign to achieve safer streets and highways takes place during this long weekend. More people are traveling and collision safe therefore more frequent.

 

Other:

One person was arrested and lodged at BCC under the Intoxicated Person Detention Act to be released when sober.

Two individuals were arrested and lodged at BCC for Breach of the Peace to be released when sober.
