Arrest Warrant Executed:

On Tuesday morning at approximately 11:42am, Brandon Police Service received a report of a possible domestic disturbance at a residence on Baker Bay. Police attended and learned that a 33yr old Brandon male had two outstanding Warrants of Arrest for Breach of Probation x2 and Domestic Assault x2. There was no disclosure of an assault. The male was arrested and lodged at BCC for Court on September 26th.

On Tuesday, Brandon Police Service received a request from the Manitoba Integrated High Risk Sex Offender Unit to execute their unendorsed Warrant of Arrest for Breach SOIRA and Fail to Register on a male suspect residing in Brandon. Police located and arrested a 29yr old Brandon man and lodged him at BCC for Court on September 26th.

Early Tuesday morning at approximately 04:42am, Brandon Police Service received a report of a male in the 700 of 18th Street yelling and screaming. Police attended and located the male and learned he had outstanding Winnipeg Police Service Warrants of Arrest for Breach of Recognizance, Assault with a Weapon and Utter Threats. A 21yr old male was arrested and lodged at BCC for Court on September 26th.

Assault:

On September 23rd 2018, a male had assaulted another male at a soccer game in which both males were participating in. On Tuesday September 25th, Police arrested and released a 31yr old Winnipeg man for Assault to appear in Court on November 22nd.

Unsafe Storage of a Firearm / Unsafe Storage of Ammunition:

Brandon Police Service obtained information that a male suspect possessed firearms and ammunition in his residence. An application for a search warrant was completed on September 25th. The search warrant was executed and Police searched the residence locating a ballistic vest, various ammunition and a loaded sawed-off .22 caliber firearm. A 21yr old Brandon man was arrested for Unsafe Storage of a Firearm, Possession of a Prohibited Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, Possession of a Prohibited Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, other various possession weapon charges and Breach of Recognizance x3. The male was lodged at BCC for Court on September 26th. SUI

School Zone Enforcement:

During the recent weeks, as children return to school, the Brandon Police Service in Partnership with Manitoba Public Insurance, undertook a selective traffic enforcement program (STEP) targeting speeding and high risk driving in school zones. Thirteen STEP’s were conducted along with regular enforcement efforts from the beginning of the school year. As of Friday September 21st, approximately 119 tickets had been issued, with 70 of those being for speeding in reduced speed zones. Unregistered/uninsured vehicles and unlicensed drivers were also identified with those offences accounting for another 24 tickets. Nineteen various other offences under the Highway Traffic Act were ticketed. School zones enforcement will continue throughout the school year in an effort to keep our children safe.

Rail Safety Week:

Trespassing on railway tracks, yards, tunnels and bridges is the leading cause of railway related fatalities and injuries.

Show your children how to cross safely – only at designated crossings, while obeying the signals and using the “Look, Listen, Live” motto to stay safe.

 

Other Arrests:

Three individuals were detained under the Intoxicated Person Detention Act to be released when sober.
