Stolen Vehicle:

Just before 9:00 AM Monday, a resident from the 800 block 2nd St. called to report his 2001 Chevrolet 1500 extended cab pickup truck, silver in color, Manitoba license HVC180, had been stolen from outside his residence overnight.   The vehicle has two balaclava decals, which is a band logo, on the rear window.

 

Possession of a Prohibited Weapon:

Just after 12:00 PM Monday, we were contacted by a home-owner who advised that she had located a sawed-off shotgun in her daughter’s bedroom. The shotgun was removed from the residence by another family member and was recovered by members who attended to the call. A 15 year-old male was subsequently identified as being responsible for bringing the weapon into the residence, and was arrested for possession of a prohibited weapon, along with multiple other weapon-related charges. The youth was also the subject of two warrants for arrest for failing to appear in court and for failing to comply with conditions of an undertaking. The accused was lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre to appear in court today.

 

Domestic Assault:

On August 1st, 2018, a female made an allegation that her ex-partner, a 50 year-old male, had assaulted her prior. Police investigated the matter and it was sent for a Crown Opinion, which was returned with direction to charge the male. On Monday, the suspect was located and arrested for assault – domestic related, and released on appropriate police imposed conditions. He is scheduled to appear in court on November 1st on this matter.

 

Break and Enters:

A business compound located in the 2000 block Pacific Avenue was unlawfully entered sometime overnight Sunday night to Monday morning. It has not been determined at this point if anything was stolen but the suspect(s) may have left property behind. The matter remains under investigation.

Another business compound, this one located in the 1500 block 18th Street North, was also unlawfully entered overnight Sunday to Monday morning. A number of items, including small engines, constructions equipment, and tires were stolen. In the early morning hours of Monday, police members stopped a van containing similar items and identified two suspects. This matter remains under investigation as well.

 

Vehicle vs Pedestrian Collision:

At about 5:15 PM Monday, members responded to a vehicle vs pedestrian collision in the 1000 block Princess Avenue. A 27 year-old pedestrian was struck by a vehicle, and received only minor injuries. The victim was transported by ambulance to BRHC as a precaution. The operator of the vehicle was issued a ticket under the Highway Traffic Act for failing to yield right-of-way to a pedestrian.

 

Arrest Warrants Executed:

At about 8:20 PM Monday evening, members responded to an unknown situation in the backlane of the 400 block 16th Street. A 33 year-old male was located in the area and it was determined that he was the subject of two warrants for arrest for unlawfully at large and failing to comply with a probation order. The accused was lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre to appear in court today.

A 13 year-old female was checked at her residence during the course of an unrelated investigation. It was found that there was a warrant for her arrest for failing to comply with a probation order. She was arrested on the strength of the warrant, and released at the scene back into the custody of a parent. She is to appear in court on September 25th.

 

Impaired Driver:

Members responded to a 911 call of a two vehicle collision in the 1800 block Braecrest Drive at about 7:40 PM Monday evening. The operator of one of the involved vehicles, a 31 year-old male, displayed signs of impairment and was arrested for impaired driving. He subsequently provided samples of his breath which resulted in readings of his blood alcohol content being in excess of two times the legal limit. He was later released from custody at is to appear in court on September 20th.

 

Others:
A 27 year-old female was lodged to prevent a continued breach of the peace after she was found in an intoxicated state while carrying a bunch of sticks and banging on the door of a residence in the 1600 block Lorne Avenue.

Members dealt with reports of two previously reported runaways having returned and five reports of youths having left their respective homes.
