MEDIA RELEASE FOR JULY 11TH

Brandon Police Service Media Release for the Past 24 Hours.

 

Arrest Warrants Executed:

  • Police stopped a vehicle in the 1800 Block of 1st street and found that the male driver had two Family Maintenance Act Warrants for his arrest. The 46-year-old Brandon man was lodged at the Correctional Centre to appear in Court today.
  • A 20-year-old Brandon woman attended the Police Station as she was aware there was a Warrant for her Arrest for Fail to comply with a Court Order. She was later released and is scheduled to appear in Court in August.
  • At 2:20 p.m., Police conducted a traffic stop in the 1000 Block of Highland Avenue and learned that the male driver had a two Warrants of Arrest for Breach of Probation. The 20-year-old male from Douglas, Manitoba was arrested on the strength of the Warrant and lodged at the Correctional Centre to appear in Court today.
  • Police responded to a residence on Cornell Bay after receiving a call of a female causing problems. The 32-year-old Brandon woman was located and found to have a Warrant of Arrest for Fail to Attend Court. She was arrested and transported to the Correctional Centre to appear in Court on Wednesday.
  • On June 30th Police received a report of a theft of merchandise from a business located in the 1000 Block of Victoria Avenue. Police identified the male suspect but were unable to locate him at the time and as such a Warrant of Arrest for Theft Under was issued. The 24-year-old man from Brandon was located in the 300 Block of 8th street and arrested. He was also found to be in Breach of his Probation Order by attending this same business. He was lodged at the Correctional Centre and is scheduled to appear in Court today.
  • At 2018 hrs, police were dispatched to a Park in the downtown area regarding an intoxicated and aggressive male. Police located a 35-year-old male who matched the description of the suspect information provided and learned that he had an outstanding Warrant of Arrest for Breach of Undertaking. He was lodged at the Brandon Correctional Centre and is scheduled to appear in Court in September.

 

Theft Under $5000:

  • A 39-year-old male from Brandon was identified as being responsible for a theft of merchandise from a business in the 1000 Block of Victoria Avenue that occurred earlier in the day. He was eventually located and charged with Theft Under $5000 and released to appear in Court in September.
  • Police responded to a report of a suspicious male in the area of the Corral Centre. Upon being located it was learned that he had just stolen some merchandise from a business in the area. The 38-year-old man was charged for Theft Under $50000 and released to appear in Court in September.

 

Possession of Marihuana:

At 5:09 p.m. Police stopped a vehicle in the Zero Hundred Block of College Avenue and a strong smell of marihuana was detected. The male driver was arrested and a search releveled he had a ziplock bag with approximately 30 grams of Marihuana on his person. The 52-year-old resident of Brandon was charged for Possession of Marihuana Equal to 30 grams and released to appear in Court in September.

 

Drive While Disqualified:

Police observed the male suspect operating his vehicle near 7th street and Louise Avenue. The 44year-old man from Brandon was found to be disqualified from driving, and such he was arrested and later released to appear in Court in September.

 

Vehicle vs. Pedestrian – MVA:

At 9:37 p.m. Police attended to the intersection of 18th street and College Avenue on a report that a vehicle had struck a pedestrian. A male youth from Brandon was transported to the Brandon Regional Health Centre with non-life threatening injuries. Police continue to investigate.

 

Other Arrests:

One individual was arrested for Breach of Peace and two individuals were detained under the intoxicated Person Detention Act to be released when sober.
