Brandon Police Service Media Release for the Past 24 Hours.

 

Male Arrested for Break and Enter:

At approximately 5:20 a.m. Wednesday morning, Police responded to an alarm at a business in the 300 Block of Park Avenue East. Attending officers found a window smashed out of the business and an office within also broken into. Patrol members located a male in the area who was found to have items stolen from the business in his possession as well as break-in instruments. The 39-year-old man was arrested for Break, Enter & Theft and Possession of Break and Enter instruments. The man remains in Police custody as the investigation continues.  

Impaired Driving:

At approximately 10:40 a.m., Police received a report that an intoxicated male left a business in the 1000 Block of Victoria Avenue got into a vehicle and when attempting to drive away hit the curb. Officers attended and stopped the vehicle in the parking lot of the business. The male driver showed signs of being impaired and was taken into custody. Breath samples obtained were in excess of the legal limit. The 63-year-old man from Minnedosa MB. was arrested for Impaired Driving and Drive Over 80 mg%. He was released and is scheduled to appear in Court later this month.

Assaults:

At 3:10 p.m., a female contacted Police and advised that her ex-boyfriend attended her residence and slapped her in the face. Officers located the male suspect at his residence a short time later where he was arrested for Domestic Assault. The 37-year-old man was released and is scheduled to attend Court in June. The female victim did not receive any physical injuries because of the assault.

At 10:30 p.m., Police responded to a disturbance at a youth group care home on Clement Drive and learned that a female youth resident assaulted three staff members. The suspect slapped one employee and pushed two other employees. The 17-year-old female was arrested for Assault X3 and was released to attend Court in June. The employees did not receive physical injuries because of the assaults.

At approximately 12:00 a.m., Police responded to a youth care group home on Louise Avenue after receiving a panic alarm. Investigation revealed that a female youth resident struck one of the staff members. The 17-year-old female youth was arrested for Assault and released to attend Court in June. The staff member did not require medical attention.

Arrest Warrants Executed:

At approximately 1:00 a.m., Police responded to a noise complaint at a residence on Acadia Boulevard. A 37-year-old male in the residence was found to have an outstanding Warrant of Arrest for Assault and Utter Threats. The intoxicated male was arrested and lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center to appear in Court on Wednesday.

On Tuesday afternoon, a female youth turned herself into Police for having an outstanding Warrant of Arrest for Fail to Appear in Court. The youth was arrested and released to attend Court in June.

At 12:45 p.m., Police observed a male walking in the 1400 Block of Stickney Avenue and were aware that the man had a Warrant of Arrest for Breach of Recognizance and Breach of Probation. The 33-year-old man was arrested and lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center. He is scheduled to appear in Court on Wednesday.

Other Arrests:

Two individuals were detained under the Intoxicated Person Detention Act and one person arrested for Breach of the Peace.
