Brandon Police Service Media Release for the Past 24 Hours.

 

Female Arrested for Break and Enter:

At approximately 1:00 p.m., a male from an apartment in the 500 Block 13th Street reported that a female who was known to him broke into the apartment through an open window and stole a blanket. The male attempted to stop the suspect however; she pushed him and fled the residence. The 24-year-old female was arrested a short time later for Break, Enter & Assault and Theft Under $5000. The female was released to attend Court in June.   

Break and Enter to Garage:

On Sunday morning, a resident of Lloyd Crescent reported that the garage door was open and a shed on the property was entered sometime overnight. Nothing was noticed stolen from either and there are no suspects at this time. Police investigation continues.

Residential Break and Enter:

A resident of an apartment in the 400 Block of 7th Street reported a Break and Enter to the suite that occurred sometime overnight. Investigation revealed that the door to the suite was forced open and cash, jewelry and Apple earphones were stolen. There are no suspects at this time and Police investigation continues.

Arrest Warrants Executed:

At approximately 2:10 p.m., Police arrested a 62-year-old Brandon man for having two outstanding Warrants of Arrest for Breach of Probation. The man was released to attend Court in June.  

At approximately 8:30 p.m., Police observed a male in the 900 Block of Louise Avenue and were aware that he had an outstanding Warrant of Arrest for Breach of Recognizance and Fail to Attend Court. The 18-year-old man from Brandon was arrested and lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center. He is scheduled to appear in Court on Monday.  

Breach of Court Orders:

At approximately 9:40 a.m., Police responded to an apartment building in the 600 Block of McDiarmid Drive for a disturbance. A male and female were located and found to be the cause of the disturbance. The 36-year-old man who residence in an apartment in the building was found to be bound by an Undertaking to have no contact or communication with the female. The 35-year-old female from Sioux Valley First Nation was found to also be bound by an Undertaking with conditions to have no contact or communication with the male and to abstain from the consumption of alcohol. Both subjects were intoxicated and both lodged at the Correctional Center to be released when sober to attend Court in July.

Mischief to Property:

At approximately 11:50 a.m., Police received a report of a female walking in the 900 Block of 9th Street banging on parked vehicles. A 34-year-old female was located and one vehicle was found to have a smashed window. The suspect was arrested for Mischief to Property. She was released on a Promise to Appear with a Court date in July.

Possession of Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose:

On Sunday afternoon, a male from the 900 Block of 9th Street reported that a male approached the residence and was holding a knife. The male suspect was agitated and appeared under the influence of a drug. Officers located the man a short distance away and he sustained a medical condition that resulted in being transported to hospital. The 40-year-old male suspect has since been medically cleared; he was arrested for Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose and released on a Promise to Appear in Court in July.

Arson:

At approximately 3:00 a.m., Police and Fire personal responded to a report of a garage and shed on fire at the rear of a residence on Basswood Bay. The fire was extinguished however both the garage and shed sustained significant damage. A witness reported observing two individuals running from the area. One of the suspects is described as 6’ tall and wearing a dark colored hat. No description was provided of the other individual. Investigation to date indicates that an accelerant was used to start the fire. Police investigation continues.

Other Arrests:

Two individuals were arrested for Breach of the Peace and one individual was detained under the Intoxicated Person Detention Act.
