Brandon Police Service Media Release for the Past 24 Hours.

Attempt Break and Enter:

At approximately 10:20 p.m., a homeowner in the 2400 Block of McDonald Avenue reported that four people were trying to break in to the home through the back door and had broken several windows. An occupant from the residence was holding the door shut preventing entry. The suspects fled the area in a small dark colored car prior to officers attending however; Police located the vehicle a short time later. The vehicle was abandoned and involved in a single vehicle accident on 17th Street North. At 10:58 p.m., the owner of the car reported it stolen from the 900 Block of Richmond Avenue. The vehicle is a 2016 blue Chevrolet Malibu. A K-9 track from the location of the crashed stolen vehicle led to the apprehension of a 25-year-old Brandon man. The intoxicated man was arrested for Attempt Break and Enter and Mischief to Property. He was lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center and is scheduled to appear in Court on Friday. Police continue to investigate this incident.

    

 Arrest Warrants Executed:

 At approximately 9:20 a.m., a 34-year-old female turned herself into Police for having an outstanding Warrant of Arrest for Fail to Attend Court. The female was arrested and appeared in Court on Thursday afternoon.

On Thursday morning, Police observed a female in a downtown parking lot and were aware of an outstanding Warrant of Arrest for Breach of Undertaking. The 18-year-old female was arrested and found to be in breach of two conditions of the same Undertaking. She was lodged at the Correctional Center and is scheduled to appear in Court on Friday.

 

Sexual Assault:

On May 9th at approximately 3:15 a.m., a male contacted Police from the hospital and advised that he was sexually assaulted by a female in his apartment. Officers attended the apartment and located the suspect who was found to be in breach of numerous Court ordered conditions. The suspect was arrested for Breach of Court Order and lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center. The victim remained at hospital for medical attention. Continued investigation revealed that the victim and suspect had just recently met and the suspect asked to stay at the apartment for a few days. Both the victim and suspect were consuming alcohol and it is alleged that the male suspect sexually assaulted the male victim inside the apartment. The victim was of belief that the suspect was female. The 25-year-old male suspect was arrested for Sexual Assault and remains in custody. He is scheduled to appear in Court on Friday.  

Other Arrests:

One individual was detained under the Intoxicated Person Detention Act.
