Brandon Police Service Media Release for the Past 24 Hours.

Theft and Recovery of Vehicle:

 On Wednesday morning, a resident of Cascade Bay reported that sometime overnight a 2009 Jeep Patriot was stolen from the driveway. At approximately 4:45 p.m., the vehicle was located by Police in the 100 Block of 10th Street North. There are no suspects or witnesses at this time and Police investigation continues.

 Arrest Warrants Executed:

 At approximately 2:10 p.m., Police stopped a vehicle in the 800 Block of 17th Street. The male driver of the vehicle was found to have an outstanding Warrant of Arrest for Fail to Appear for Finger Prints. The 37-year-old man from Hamiota was arrested and released to attend Court in June.

At approximately 12:30 p.m., Police stopped a vehicle in the 300 Block of 9th Street. One male passenger in the vehicle was found to have an outstanding Warrant of Arrest for Breach of Probation. This male was in possession of a backpack that was found to be stolen from a vehicle earlier in the day. The 37-year-old man from Brandon was arrested for the Warrant and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime. Another male passenger provided Police with a false name and found to have an outstanding Warrant of Arrest for Breach of Probation. This subject was also learned to be the subject of a Probation Order with a condition to have no contact or communication with the female driver. The 35-year-old man from Sioux Valley First Nation was arrested for the Warrant, Personation with Intent and Breach of Probation. Both arrested males were lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center and are scheduled to appear in Court on Thursday.

On Wednesday afternoon, Police responded to a disturbance in the area of Brentwood Trailer Court. A 20-year-old man located in the area was found to have an outstanding Warrant of Arrest for Fail to Appear in Court. The man was arrested and released with a Court date in June.

A 26-year-old female from Brandon was arrested on Wednesday morning on an outstanding Warrant of Arrest for Theft Under $5000 and Fail to Attend Court. The female was released to attend Court in June.

A 27-year-old man currently in custody at the Brandon Correctional Center was arrested after Brandon Police were notified the man had an outstanding Warrant of Arrest for Possession of Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose and Breach of Recognizance. The man is scheduled to appear in Court on Thursday.

A 24-year-old man currently in custody at the Brandon Correctional Center was arrested after Police learned the man had an outstanding Warrant of Arrest for Assault with a Weapon. The man is scheduled to appear in Court on Thursday.  

A 33-year-old female from Brandon was arrested on Wednesday evening on an outstanding Warrant of Arrest for Breach of Probation and Fail to Appear for Finger Prints. The female was lodged at the Correctional Center and is scheduled to appear in Court on Thursday.

Assault:

On April 26th 2018, a male contacted Police from the hospital and reported being assaulted in a residence by an acquaintance. Police investigation revealed that both parties were drinking alcohol and an argument ensued resulting in the male suspect striking the victim in the face with a bottle. The victim sustained a broken nose and chipped tooth because of the assault. The 55-year-old male suspect turned himself in to Police on Wednesday and was arrested for Assault with a Weapon and Assault Causing Bodily Harm. He was released from Police custody and is scheduled to appear in Court in July.

 Breach of Court Order:

 A 19-year-old female from Brandon was arrested for Breach of Recognizance on Wednesday night after Police received a complaint that she contacted a male while bound by the Court Order not to do so. The suspect was lodged at the Correctional Center and is scheduled to appear in Court on Thursday.  

Possession of Stolen Property:

On Wednesday afternoon, Police stopped a vehicle in the 900 Block of Victoria Avenue for inactive registration. The officer noticed needles, pills, an open can of liquor and a small amount of Marihuana in the vehicle. The female driver was taken into Police custody and a search of the vehicle recovered multiple identifications for different people. Four of the identifications were found to be reported as either lost or stolen. The 35-year-old female was arrested for Possession of Property Obtained Crime. She was released from Police custody and is scheduled to appear in Court in July.
