Brandon Police Service Media Release for the Past 24 Hours.


 At approximately 1:00 a.m., Police responded to a 911 call from an employee of a business in the 800 Block of 1st Street who reported being Robbed at knife point. The lone suspect fled the area prior to Police arrival and an attempt track by a k-9 unit met with negative results. Investigation revealed that the suspect selected $350 worth of merchandise and brought the items to the till. The suspect then pulled out a knife and demanded cash. The suspect did not receive any cash but fled the business with the merchandise. The male suspect is described as aboriginal in appearance, 25 -35 years of age and wearing a dark colored hooded sweater. Police investigation continues.  

 Arrest Warrants Executed:

 On Monday night, Police stopped a vehicle in the 1900 Block of Hilton Avenue. The female driver of the vehicle was found to have an outstanding Warrant of Arrest for Fraud and was taken into Police custody. A search of the vehicle found two knives and the suspect was found to be bound by a Recognizance with a condition to not possess any weapons. The 25-year-old female from Shoal Lake Manitoba was arrested on the strength of the Warrant and Breach of Recognizance. She is scheduled to appear in Court in June.

On Monday afternoon, Police received information that a female with a Warrant of Arrest was in a west end business. Officers located the female and arrested her on the outstanding Warrant of Arrest for Fraud. The 27-year-old female from Brandon was held in Police custody and is scheduled to appear in Court at a later date.


 Break and Enter:

On Monday morning, Police received a report that a church on 18th Street was broken into sometime overnight. Entry was gained through a south door and the office area was entered where a projector and microphone was stolen. Police investigation continues.

 Domestic Assault:

At approximately 4:15 a.m., Police responded to a disturbance at an apartment in the 600 Block of McDiarmid Drive involving a male and female. Investigation revealed that both are residents of the apartment and involved in a domestic relationship. The male was struck in the face by the female resulting in a bloody lip and the female was pushed by the male causing her to receive a bump on her head. Medical attention was not required for either person. The 34-year-old female and 36-year-old male were both arrested for Domestic Assault with both scheduled to appear in Court in June.

Sexual Assault:

A 39-year-old female from Brandon was arrested for Sexual Assault, Sexual Interference and Assault on Monday as a result of an ongoing investigation from April 10th. It is alleged that the suspect inappropriately touched an 11-year-old boy who was sleeping over at her residence. The suspect was released from Police custody and is scheduled to appear in Court in June.

Other Arrests:

Two individuals were arrested for Breach of the Peace and one individual was detained under the Intoxicated Person Detention Act over the past 24 hours.
