Brandon Police Service Media Release for the Past 24 Hours.

Impaired Driving:

 At approximately 12:00 a.m., Police received a report of a possible impaired driver on the North Hill of Brandon. Patrol Officers located the vehicle and conducted a stop in the parking lot of a business in the 200 Block of Middleton Avenue. The male driver showed signs of impairment and was transported to the Police Service where breath samples obtained exceeded the legal limit. The 35-year-old man from Edmonton Alberta was arrested for Impaired Driving and Drive Over 80 mg%. He was lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center and is scheduled to appear in Court on Thursday.

 Arrest Warrants Executed:

 At approximately 12:30 a.m., Police attended a residence in the 400 Block of 9th Street for a verbal disturbance involving a male and female. The 42-year-old male was found to have an outstanding Warrant of Arrest for Assault. He was arrested and released to attend Court in June.

At approximately 5:10 a.m., Police received a report of an intoxicated male causing problems in a residence in the 600 Block of Pacific Avenue. The man was found to have an outstanding Warrant of Arrest for Assault and on a Recognizance with conditions to abstain from consuming alcohol and to reside at an address in Winnipeg. The 72-year-old man was arrested on the strength of the Warrant and for Breach of Recognizance X2 he was lodged at the Correctional Center and is scheduled to appear in Court on Thursday.

  

Breach of Court Orders:

On Wednesday night, Police arrested an 18-year-old man for Breach of recognizance after learning that the man was not complying with the Court Order to reside at an address as directed. The man lodged at the Correctional Center and is scheduled to appear in Court on Thursday.

On Wednesday evening, Police were called to a residence in the 1500 Block of Lorne Avenue for an intoxicated male causing a disturbance. The 17-year-old was found to be on a Probation Order with a condition to abstain from consuming alcohol. The youth was arrested and lodged at the Correctional Center to be released when sober with a Court date in June.

On Wednesday afternoon, Police received information that a male inmate at the Brandon Correctional Center had been contacting a female while bound by a Recognizance not to do so. The 39-year-old man was arrested for Breach of Recognizance and is scheduled to appear in Court on Thursday.   

Assault:

On May 1st 2018, Police received a complaint that a male youth assaulted a female care worker of a youth care facility. It is alleged that the youth pushed the worker causing her to fall to the ground. The 14-year-old was arrested for assault on Wednesday afternoon and released to attend Court in June.

 Mischief to Property:

On Wednesday night, an employee from a youth care home reported that a 14-year-old male resident of the home smashed out a window of another employee’s vehicle earlier in the evening. The youth was arrested for Mischief to Property and released to attend Court in June.

  Theft Under $5000:

On April 26th 2018, a female was apprehended by an employee of a business in the 900 Block of Victoria Avenue for stealing $24.00 worth of merchandise. The suspect left the store prior to Police arrival but was located on Wednesday afternoon and arrested for the offence. The 38-year-old female was released and is scheduled to appear in Court in June.

At approximately 4:00 p.m., an employee of a business in the 900 Block of Victoria Avenue reported apprehending a female for stealing $60.00 worth of merchandise. Police attended and arrested the intoxicated 40-year-old female for Theft Under $5000. She was lodged at the Correctional Center, to be released when sober with a Court date in June.  

Other Arrests:

Two individuals were arrested for Breach of the Peace in the last 24 hours.
