Brandon Police Service Media Release for the Past 24 Hours.

Assault:

On Monday evening, an employee of youth care group home attended the Police Service and reported being assaulted by a resident inside the home. The employee reported he attemtped to take a cord away from the suspect and was struck with the cord in the face twice by the male youth. The 12-year-old was arrested for Assault and lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center. He is scheduled to appear in Court on Monday.  

Possession of Property Obtained By Crime, Criminal Harassment:

 In November 2016, a female reported a Break and Enter to her residence on Whitehead Crescent and theft of a computer. Entry gained through a basement window and no suspects were identified at the time. In February 2018, the victim contacted Police after identifying a possible suspect in the break-in. The victim identified a former acquaintance who had information about her personal life. In January 2017, the victim received notification that her computer had been accessed in an Alberta city and she knew the suspect was in that city at the time. The victim further reported that the suspect has since been following her and sending her unwanted messages on a regular basis. In April 2018, the suspect gave the victim a hard drive containing photographs from her computer. On Monday evening, Police executed a Search Warrant at a residence where the suspect is living and a hard drive believed to be from the stolen computer was located. The 33-year-old man was arrested for Possession of Property Obtained By Crime and Criminal Harassment. He was released and is scheduled to appear in Court in June.

Arrest Warrants Executed:

At approximately 10:55 p.m., Police stopped several people in the 200 Block of 6th Street. One of the individuals was found to have an outstanding Warrant of Arrest for Breach of Probation and Fail to Attend Court. The male was taken into custody and a search recovered a machete and a knife. The man was found to be on an Undertaking with conditions to obey a curfew and not possess any weapons. The 21-year-old man from Brandon was arrested on the strength of the Warrant and Breach of Undertaking X 2. He was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in Court on Tuesday.   

On Monday morning, a 39-year-old man from Brandon turned himself into Police for having a Warrant of Arrest for Fail to Appear for Finger Prints. The man was arrested and released to attend Court in April.

Break and Enter - Arrest:

A 31-year-old man currently in custody at the Correctional Center on unrelated matters was arrested on Monday for Break and Enter. The Break and Enter occurred at a residence in Highland Trailer Court on April 16th 2017. Forensic evidence seized during the investigation and subsequent analysis identified the male suspect. The man is scheduled to appear in Court on Tuesday.

Theft Under $5000 X2 – Arrest:

A 31-year-old female, currently held at the Correctional Center on unrelated matters was arrested on Monday for Theft Under $5000 X2. The suspect was identified through video surveillance for theft of $480.00 worth of merchandise that occurred on March 17th 2018, at a business in the 900 Block of Victoria Avenue. The female suspect was also identified from video surveillance for theft of $23.00 worth of merchandise from a business in the 1000 Block of Victoria Avenue that occurred on February 28th 2018. The suspect is scheduled to appear in Court on Tuesday.

Other Arrests:

One individual was arrested for Breach of the Peace.
