Brandon Police Service Media Release for the Past 24 Hours.

Assault, Possession of Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose:

On Sunday afternoon, Police responded to the area of 6th Street and Princess Avenue and receiving a report that a male youth pointed a knife at another male. Officers attended, located the youth involved and investigation revealed that one male youth assaulted the other and when the victim attempted to protect himself, the suspect pulled out a small knife. The 14-year-old youth was arrested for Assault and Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose. He was released to his parents and scheduled to appear in Court in April. The male youth victim did not receive any physical injuries because of this incident.

Stolen Vehicle:

At approximately 6:00 p.m., the owner of a business in the 1500 Block of 18th Street North reported theft of a 2005 Cadillac CTS. The theft occurred sometime after 11:30 a.m. and it is believed that a spare set of keys were taken from within the business. The stolen vehicle is brown in color with Manitoba license plate D62710. A second vehicle was also stolen from the same business but was located on Sunday evening in Virden MB. Police investigation continues.

Arrest Warrants Executed:

At approximately 10:55 p.m., Police attended a residence in the 500 Block of 13th Street after receiving an anonymous call that a female was being held against her will. Two males and a female were located and investigation revealed that the three were partying in the residence however; the resident of the home was not present. A 25-year-old man provided a false name to Police and when his identity was learned, it revealed a Warrant of Arrest for Breach of Recognizance. He was arrested for Personation and the Warrant and held in custody to appear in Court on Monday. A 37-year-old man was found to be on a Recognizance Order with a condition to abstain from alcohol. He was arrested, held in custody and scheduled to appear in Court on Monday. The 31-year-old female from Brandon was found to have an outstanding Warrant of Arrest for Extortion and was also arrested after recently being identified as a suspect in a Fraud investigation where stolen cheques were cashed. She was lodged at the Correctional Center and is scheduled to appear in Court on Monday.

Other Arrests:

One individual was detained under the Intoxicated Person Detention Act.
