Brandon Police Service Media Release for the Past 24 Hours.

Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Cocaine, Possession of Firearms:

During the course of a Police investigation, officers learned that a male rented a room at a Motel in the 800 Block of Middleton Avenue and was possibly in possession of Firearms. At approximately 4:55 p.m., the male was observed leaving the Motel and was taken into custody. While officers were arresting the male, a .22 calibre handgun fell out of the waistband of the male suspect. The handgun was not loaded but found to be stolen. A search of the suspect located two baggies of cocaine and $450 cash. Investigators learned that a female was still occupying the Motel room and she was called out of the room and taken into custody. A Search Warrant was executed on the Motel room and Police recovered a loaded .22 calibre rifle, ammunition, approximately 5 grams of cocaine and drug trafficking related paraphernalia. The 23-year-old male suspect from Brandon was arrested for Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Cocaine, Possession of Proceeds of Crime, Unauthorized Possession of Firearms, Carry a Concealed Weapon, Unsafe Storage of Firearm & Ammunition and Possession of a Weapon Obtained by Crime. The male was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in Court on Friday. The 20-year-old female from Brandon was found to have an outstanding Warrant of Arrest for Breach of Probation. She was held in custody and also scheduled to appear in Court on Friday.


At approximately 1:15 a.m., Police received a report of a male in distress as his vehicle was just stolen. Officers located the distraught man and learned that he was asked by a male acquaintance to bring a coffee to the acquaintances female friend. The victim agreed and attended to a residence on Cornell Bay at approximately 12:30 a.m. with the coffee. A female greeted the victim at the door and invited him in the residence. Once inside the residence, the victim was approached by two male suspects. One armed with a knife and the other an axe. The suspects demanded money and fearful for his life, the victim agreed to take the suspects to his bank to retrieve cash. The victim and suspects drove to a bank on 18th Street and one of the suspects took the victims bankcard with pin number and went inside the bank to an ATM. The victim took the opportunity to flee with one of the suspects not in the vehicle and ran to a residence on 21st Street where he asked the homeowner to call Police. Officers patrolled the area of the bank however the suspects and vehicle gone. A short time later Officers did locate the stolen vehicle abandoned on Cornell Bay. The victim did not receive injuries because of this incident and the investigation continues.  

Arrest Warrants Executed:

On Thursday evening, Police attended a residence on Westaway Bay after becoming aware that a female resident had an outstanding Warrant of Arrest for Theft Under $5000 and Fail to Attend Court. The 34-year-old female was located, arrested and released to attend Court in May.

A 48-year-old female from Brandon turned herself into Police on Thursday for having a Warrant of Arrest for Breach of Probation. The female was arrested and released to attend Court in May.

A 19-year-old Brandon man was arrested on Thursday night for having an outstanding Warrant of Arrest for Breach of Recognizance. The man was lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center and is scheduled to appear in Court on Friday.

Drive While Disqualified:

On Thursday afternoon, Police observed a man driving a vehicle on the North Hill and learned that he was prohibited from driving. The 36-year-old man from Brandon was arrested for Driving While Disqualified and released with a Court date in May.

Sexual Assault, Sexual Interference & Obtaining Sexual Services for Consideration:

In ongoing investigative efforts to target those involved in sexual exploitation, Police arrested two individuals as part of the same investigation of obtaining Sexual Services for Consideration. On March 28th 2018, Police entered into the investigation after receiving information that a 15-year-old female youth was the victim of a sexual assault. Through the course of the investigation, Officers learned that an 18-year-old female from Brandon arranged a sexual liaison between the youth and an adult male. On March 27th 2018, police arrested the 18-year-old female suspect for Obtaining Sexual Services for Consideration and Receiving Material Benefit for Sexual Services. The suspect received financial gain for her role in organizing the arrangement. On April 5th 2018, Police arrested a 69-year-old man from Virden Manitoba for Sexual Assault, Sexual Interference and Obtaining Sexual Services for Consideration. Both suspects in this investigation have been released from custody and are scheduled to appear in Court in May.

Other Arrests:

One individual was arrested for Breach of the Peace.

One individual was detained under the Intoxicated Person Detention Act.
