Brandon Police Service Media Release for the Past 24 Hours.

Two Arrested in Stolen Vehicle:

At approximately 1:50 a.m., Police conducted a records check on a vehicle, which found that the vehicle stolen out of Starbuck Manitoba. A vehicle stop was executed in the 800 Block 6th Street and a male driver and female passenger were taken into custody without incident. A 28-year-old man from Hodgson MB and a 36-year-old woman from Winnipeg were arrested for Possession of Stolen vehicle. The male was also found to be disqualified from driving and the female was in Breach of a Court Order. Both were lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center and are scheduled to appear in Court on Thursday.

Stolen Vehicle Recovered:

At approximately 2:50 a.m., Winnipeg Police notified BPS that the stolen 2011 black GMC truck with Manitoba license plate GBG 922 was recovered in Winnipeg. Police investigation continues.

Theft of Vehicle:

On Wednesday morning, Police received a report of a stolen vehicle out of a work yard in the 2000 Block of Pacific Avenue. An employee of the business witnessed the vehicle driving away from the yard at 9:30 a.m., but did not realize it was being stolen. The vehicle is a 2005 GMC Yukon, gold in color with Manitoba license plate EAY 710. There are no suspects at this time and Police investigation continues.

Arrest warrants Executed:

A 39-year-old female from Brandon turned himself into Police on Wednesday afternoon for having an outstanding Warrant of Arrest for Assault. The female was arrested and released to attend Court in May.   

A 21-year-old man turned himself into Police for having an outstanding Warrant of Arrest for Assault, Uttering Threats and Fail to Attend Court. The man was arrested and released to attend Court in May.

Theft Under $5000:

On Wednesday afternoon, BPS posted a surveillance photo on social media requesting assistance to identify the man in connection to a theft investigation. The male suspect turned himself into Police approximately one hour after the posting. On March 18th 2018, it is alleged that the suspect stole $52 worth of merchandise from a business in the 900 Block of Victoria Avenue. The 23-year-old man from Brandon was arrested for Theft Under $5000 and released to attend Court in May.

Breach of Court Order:

On April 3rd 2018, Police executed a Search Warrant at a residence in the 400 Block of 8th Street after receiving information that the male resident was accessing the internet while bound by a Probation Order not to do so. Police confirmed that the man did have access to the internet and on Wednesday afternoon, the 32-year-old man was arrested for Breach of Probation. He was released to attend Court in May.

On Wednesday afternoon, Police received information that a male inmate at the Brandon Correctional Center breached a no contact order. The 34-year-old man was arrested for Breach of Court Order and is scheduled to appear in Court on Thursday.

At approximately 9:15 p.m., an Officer observed a highly intoxicated male and female in the 800 Block of Rosser Avenue causing problems. The 19-year-old male was found to be on a Recognizance with conditions to observe a curfew and not to consume alcohol. The man was arrested and lodged at the Correctional Center to appear in Court on Thursday.   The female youth was arrested for Breach of the Peace and lodged at the Correctional Center to be released when sober.

Uttering Threats:

A 50-year-old man from Brandon was arrested on Wednesday for Uttering Threats as part of an ongoing investigation from 2017. It is alleged that the suspect threatened another man that he would do harm to the man’s wife. The suspect was released and is scheduled to appear in Court in May.

Assault:

On Wednesday afternoon, an employee form a youth group care home reported being assaulted by one of the youth clients. The 13-year-old female suspect was arrested for Assault and released to attend Court in May.

Carry a Concealed Weapon:

At approximately 5:50 p.m., police attended a downtown Hotel for a report of a female passed out at the front desk. The female was located and a CO2 pellet pistol was located concealed in her purse with a bottle of liquor. The 39-year-old female from Brandon was arrested for Carry a Concealed Weapon and lodged at the Correctional Center to be released when sober with a Court date in June.

Other Arrests:

Two individuals were arrested for Breach of the Peace.

One individual was detained under the Intoxicated Person Detention Act.
